A native of Midland, Texas, Bryce Hoppel has been around sport for most of his life; his father has managed a local baseball team for decades, and his older sister was part of the undefeated collegiate basketball team in Lubbock for their 2015-2016 season, winning the national title that year.
Hoppel himself traversed between several sports growing up — namely baseball and soccer, which he had intended to play professionally at one point. He eventually found a home in track and field while in high school, where he first laced up his running gear and thrived by breaking several school records in different running events, while graduating among the top students in his class.

Hoppel’s dominance in the 800 m race continued in college, where he studied business finance. He went undefeated for 21 straight indoor and outdoor races beginning in 2019, even running one of the fastest 800 m times in collegiate history. He turned pro that same year and joined the Brand with the 3-Stripes; in Bryce Hoppel, adidas recognized an historic talent capable of competing with elite athletes from all over the world.
In the ensuing years, Hoppel won his first national title in early 2020 and set a new North American record for the 1000 m indoor run, later defending both his outdoor and indoor titles for the 800 m in both national and international competition. He also twice represented the United States on the global sporting stage, setting another North American record for the 800 m race in 2024 — making him one of the fastest runners in history at that distance.
Outside of sport, Hoppel is an avid fan of traveling, especially around Europe — which he admits is one of the perks of his profession. He has also expressed hopes to open a taco restaurant at some point in the future or possibly follow in the footsteps of his father in sports management.
