Superstar Sneakers

(42 Products)

Superstar broke out in 1970 as the first of its kind. At a time when basketball shoes were mostly made from canvas, Superstar debuted a cowhide upper for comfortability and durability.

In the late 1960s, we began testing a rubber toe cap on different silhouettes to reinforce the shoe's upper. First used on the Tennis silhouette, the rubber toe cap was redesigned to become the shell toe—now an iconic detail of Superstar.

From sports to the streets: Superstar sneaker rose in prominence with the birth of hip-hop and streetwear culture. The world witnessed Superstar transition to a lifestyle staple—leading to its ultimate icon status.

ADIDAS ORIGINALS SUPERSTAR

With its roots in both hoops and hip-hop, the adidas Superstar can’t help but live up to its name. Designed for ball above all else, the icon retains its game-ready details like a protective shell toe and coated leather upper. Known as the Superstar II, the modern adidas Superstar rocks true-to-the-original details like a herringbone cupsole, zigzag 3-Stripes edging and that signature shell-toe while beefing up the padding for a more cushioned ride.

ADIDAS ARCHIVE: SUPERSTAR

The history of the adidas Superstar starts as much on the court as on the streets of New York. First adopted after the 1969 NBA championships, the name Superstar felt fitting, and it stuck. Years later, the adidas Originals Superstar found its off-court home in the underground hip-hop scene, winning over rap legends Run D.M.C. and sparking creative collaborations. Today, athletes, artists and everyday stars continue to make the shoe their own.

MORE SUPERSTAR DETAILS

Timeless as ever, the adidas Superstar 2 maintains its original vibe in coated leather and classic rounded shell-toe. While the silhouette lends itself well to new collaborations, colorways and technologies, the simple Superstar will always be the fan favorite.
