ALL WE NEED IS TWO FEET TO STAY FIT
Summer’s over, but that doesn’t mean your fitness journey is complete for the year. We challenge you to keep that beach body going with a few simple techniques. We know the end of summer can be a bummer, but the cooler months have options to keep you fit long after the summer sun sets. Whether you want to explore the woods or hit up your local gym, we’re on hand to help you keep healthy.
Take a Hike
The cooler days of late summer/early fall are the perfect time to head to the mountains for a good hike. A regular, weekly hike in the woods can be a great way to stay in shape while keeping in touch with Mother Nature.
Not fortunate to live near the Appalachian trail or the Blue Ridge mountains? Research has shown that taking a brisk 15 minute walk after dinner can help you lose weight, sleep better, and relieves stress – not to mention, that’s prime sunset watching time. Whether you’re climbing a 12,000 footer or taking a post-dinner stroll, putting one foot in front of the other puts you one step closer to keeping that summer glow.
Run with a Goal
The cooler weather is perfect for doing more intense workouts outside. What better time to take up running? It’s efficient, effective, and all you really need is a pair of shoes and the open trail!
For newbies, try your hand at some exercises for new runners or explore a gradual couch-to-5k routine. Working out with friends keeps you motivated and accountable, so look for a group of like-minded sporty people to turn up the fun of getting fit. If you’ve run more 5Ks than you can remember, try stepping up the distance and consider a half or full marathon.
