The purpose of this appraisal is to evaluate the Adidas Ultra Boost running shoe based on three criteria. These criteria include comfort, durability, and performance. With the latest technology integrated into their product, Adidas claims that the Ultra Boost is currently the best running shoe on the market. Therefore, the targeted market for this product is frequent runners (~30 miles per week). Comfort When looking for a running shoe, comfort is my main priority. I define comfort as the ability to go on a 10 mile run without feeling any discomfort. The Adidas Ultra Boost integrates one of its newest technologies, Boost, into the sole of the shoe. The Boost sole literally feels like you’re walking on a cloud. It is extremely responsive and you feel the material squish with every step. This helps to minimize the negative impact that running has on your joints. Unfortunately, I did notice that the shoe fits very narrow. If you are someone with wider feet, you might want to find a wider shoe. After wearing the Adidas Ultra Boost for multiple runs and feeling no discomfort in my feet, I can confidently say that the comfort of the Ultra Boost is top-of-the-line and ideal for frequent runners. Durability Since the Adidas Ultra Boost is relatively expensive ($180), most users are going to want to get their money’s worth. I define durability as a shoe that can remain in good condition for 6 months while running 30 miles per week. In my experience, I have went on 10 mile runs every other day for four months, and the shoes have shown minimal signs of wear. The tread on the bottom of the shoe is still fresh, resulting in a great grip between the shoe and the terrain. Based on what I have already experienced, I expect this great condition to continue for the next several months. Therefore, the Adidas Ultra Boost is great in terms of durability for frequent running. Performance I rate the performance of a running shoe based on its support and grip. The upper part of the Adidas Ultra Boost is constructed out of Primeknit, a formfitting material that adapts to the natural curvature of the foot. Primeknit provides a snug, sock-like fit, ensuring that your foot is well supported. The Continental rubber outsole is made from the same material as automobile tires—ensuring the best grip in wet and dry conditions. The performance of the Adidas Ultra Boost is unmatched by other shoes. After a thorough evaluation of the Adidas Ultra Boost, I can see why Adidas claims to have created the best running shoe. The Ultra Boost has excelled in comfort, durability, and performance, making it an ideal shoe for frequent runners. I highly suggest purchasing this shoe, and I hope you have the same positive experience that I’ve had.
Love the gray! Very easy to get on and off. By the picture, the laces look like straps but they are tie laces. The thicker laces make it look cool. I have a very high arch so not much support there to be used for running or extensive training. Overall a very good sneaker for everyday use.
I love love love these shoes. They are smaller than the picture makes them look, but in the best way possible. they are extremely comfortable, much like walking on memory foam. the arch support is outstanding. Two things that did not bother me but might be a problem for others: 1.) the mesh is very thin. if you are looking for a shoe to wear in the winter, this is probably not for you 2. the back does come up very high. i can definitely see how this might be problematic/a cause for blisters for some people. i have a pretty arched tendon back there so it's not a problem at all for me. Another thing to note, the bottom mesh is not connected to the sole in the middle. this is not a problem at all it's just not something i noticed before purchasing. (Also the aglets are pink and blue) Overall, this is probably my favorite sneaker i've ever purchased. i looove these shoes!
These shoes are so comfortable!! They silhouette on them is feminine and cool. A coworker of mine actually walked by and doubled back to peek his head into my work space to tell me he liked them the first day I wore them.
The Ultra Boosts are great shoes with two critical flaws in my experience (if you are using them as running shoes): 1) Primeknit durability, and 2) sockliner quality. 1) Primeknit durability: Within a few months of use, the Primeknit upper (which is super comfortable, btw) started to fray on the outside of the left foot. A month later, there was a visible hole that got bigger with each run. The shoes will soon be retired to "around the house" wear as my pinky toe is starting to poke out of the shoe. Suboptimal performance for a shoe at this price point. 2) Sockliner quality: After a few runs, I noticed that the balls of my feet would hurt after a mile or so. I took out the sockliner, compared it to the sockliner in my Energy Boost 2s, and noticed that the Energy Boost had a much thicker sockliner. I put those in my Ultra Boosts and the problem went away - I'd recommend doing something similar if you get these, but adidas should consider a redesign to address the issue. Overall impression: great shoe for everyday wear, good running shoe with some critical flaws, and recommend with some hesitation.
15 yr old got blisters on back of ankles, she wanted to see if she could get used to but the shoe ripped within 2 weeks just wearing around school so we sent it back. Sad because she loved them and would've been comfortable besides blisters, they just come up to high in the back.
The boost is cool and it's more comfortable than similar shoes, for example Nike victory elites are what I usually race in. If adidas keeps making shoes of this quality I will continue to get them. The color is awesome too. I'm sick of seeing bright neon colored shoes and shoes with lots of different color. Adidas is good at making a good looking shoe
It's not been a year since I bought these shoes and the sole has cracked of both the shoes. I have a back problem so I needed shoes with extra cushion, I don't run I just walk and they couldn't sustain even a year. Spending $192 for 10 months is not justifiable. i don't know how long will they last for the people who run.
I own 3 pairs of these shoes. I love my first 2 pairs that have more of the cloth type material. It stretches just enough but fits my foot like a glove. My 3rd pair I don't really care for. The top is the mesh material. It is to stretchy and my foot feels like I have zero support on the sides. I love the elevated arch and boost. I feel like I'm walking on air. I wish they would put some piece of support at the toes because when I where them to the gym my feet slide forward with circuit training. I know there are trainers similar to these but I tried them and didn't love them. I hope they make another pair black and white mix for the fall. Mine from last year are the favorite pair of tennis shoes I've ever owned!
Unlike all the hypebeasts out there I actually run in these, with that said I can say that these are the most comfortable running shoes I have ever had. very comfortable. They also give you that spring in your step you need for running. 10/10
This is my favorite shoe of all time because of comfort and aesthetics BUT for 180$ they wear out very fast I'm not even running in them and after one day of just waliking at school I had parts of the sole That were all worn out and flat PLEASE MAKE OUTSOLE MORE DURABLE!!
I love these shoes! They are extremely comfortable and stylish. I'm usually an 8.5 but in all my running shoes I am an 8, so that is what I purchased in this pair and the fit is perfect! Love the white color although it has a bit of tan in it, just to know as a heads up incase you're really looking for a stark white shoe.
mesh over the front toe area is not supportive enough. On a down hill run my foot slides forward laking enough stability. That said it is the most comfortable run in my life. Looking for a different model with more support up front with the same comfort. HHmmmmm
I'll start by saying I bought these for running and casual wear. I am really excited about these shoes. They are extremly soft and have responsive cushioning, I Didn't get what that meant until I actually put in the running miles. I live in the city so mainly I run on hard pavement and these bad boys did everything right, when your foot hits the ground it supports all of your foot and not just the heel and when your ready to go up for the next stride it is really good at responding to that. I urge those on the fence as I was for three months to get em! Worth the expense if it doesn't dent your wallet so badly. Also for my fellow sneakerheads these look great with joggers, jeans, and khakis, no question they are worth the hype.
I love these shoes, they have everything I could ask for style and comfort. Just ordered them in white and plan to order a few more different colors. Scotchguard is a must if you want to keep them clean.
I just bought this today at store. Love this shoes so much. One of the most comfortable shoes I've had. The middle part hold my feet so nice. I want to buy another pair differeny colors..waiting until sale ..hehe
I've been wearing this shoe casually for the past 2 weeks and I could not be more happy with it. The shoe is unbelievably comfortable. It's great for people who've come off of knee surgery. It provides the shock absorption that I so desperately need. Big ups to Adidas for making a quality shoe
I always go with Adidas shoes, and was super excited when I ordered these. But they were really uncomfortable. Other Adidas I never even had to 'break in', but these didn't get any less comfortable with wear. I first tried walking around town and my calves got sore, I ran and my soles got sore quick, I boxed and the floating arch support felt like no support at all. My ankles were slipping and hurting so bad after one workout. I'll be returning and trying another style. I still love Adidas for style and comfort, but this one wasn't for me.
Arch Perfection but...the back comes up so high that it gave me blisters after wearing for 2 hours! I have high arches so I loved the arch support but sadly I will need to return due to the back. So bummed!
I love these shoes because they're super comfy while also on trend. I purchased the white/red color which look more tan/off white/red, but I actually like the color more than I did in the picture. They're very versatile and can be paired with jeans, shorts, or athletic gear. I purchased for casual wear but they're so comfy that I plan to make them my go to running shoes
The product looks nice and feels nice for the most part, however the back of the shoe comes up so high on the ankle it has given me and many of my friends blisters and the whole shoe becomes uncomfortable to wear after a few hours
I usually wear a 5.5-6 in athletic shoes and took a 5.5 in these Pureboost X. The fit is snug and soft. The floating arch is a cool feature and provides good support. I have a low arch in my left foot and a normal arch on my right, so I do get some cramping in my left foot if I am doing a plyo workout. After a short break-in period, I can now walk and run short distances without any problems. I did have a blister at my heel due to the higher back after the first time I wore them, but since then, that hasn't been a problem. The shoes seem to get dirty very easily, but that is a consequence of the light color scheme I got (light green/blue with pink sole). I've noticed a loose string though, and it's only been a month, so I am a little concerned about that.
This is no doubt the best looking athletic shoe I have ever purchased. And I have purchased a few in my time. I'm 70 years old. The comfort is outstanding. The style is different but similiar to other athletic shoes. Classic!! Beautiful Colors. I just wish you would restock the color pink. have the blue and black. Beautiful, comfortable, stylish athletic shoe. Thank you.
I love the feel of the shoes, I would pay over and over for the shoes. Like I said I would if they would last long enough to break them in and be open to the idea of purchasing another pair and having a second pair. Unfortunately by the time you break them in its time for a new pair. I won't talk trash about the shoes, I know they are the best pair of shoes I have ever worn. Just make them them last longer than 2 months.
Super comfortable shoe, breathable mesh and cushiony sole makes them great for running/gym. The one problem I have with them is the loophole for the shoelace isn't very secure, and after about two months of wear one of them ripped and the shoelace became loose and now that shoelace is sort of lopsided. Not that noticeable though, would still recommend.
