I have incorporated squats into my leg workout every week but my technique has always suffered. After having reviewed a tutorial on Youtube, I took the plunge and bought the proper footwear for doing squats and the proper waist belt. I haven't looked back. The proper equipment helps to attain the proper technique. These shoes are a necessity to all who aspire to get the best out of their squat.
I've only had a few work outs in them but so far they are fitting and working great. No issues with manufacture can be found, no loose threads or mis-aligned parts. I wear a US 11D and these fit me very well. As you expect, these are Very Supportive from heal to ball of foot but do allow comfortable flex at the ball of the foot for OLY lifting.
I have read it runs narrow, and did notice this a bit in the toe box, but not for long. Once I wore it around and tightened the strap around the back of the foot, it no longer felt tight, but rather secure. I use it primarily for squats and overhead press, and it's fantastic. I can walk around the gym fairly comfortably, it's stable and non-compressible, without being too heavy. I haven't tried the Romaleos, but am very satisfied with this shoe.
After having worn these for about a year I cannot imagine anything else being better. At the very least the bar has been set pretty high. The stability with these shoes when catching weight is second to none.
My husband really likes these shoes. He was weightlifting with his crossfit sneakers and he says that they make a big, big difference. He definitely recommends them and says that he would buy another pair in a different color
First pair of lifting shoes. Fit true to size. Very comfortable. Sturdy in heel especially noticeable when squatting, also in military/push press yet enough flex to walk around gym without issue. No real grounds for comparison but very happy overall with shoe.
Overall, the heel adds a great benefit. Pro: - good style -big heal - solid sole and nice strap Con: - laces don't pull tight enough - I have wide feet, went a half size up. Still not wide enough -gel layer on tongue tore within first week; not sure what the purpose of that layer even is
Judging the size of these shoes before lifting in them will only make you paranoid you bought a small shoe. At home I thought I should have gotten a .5 to 1 size larger. However, in the gym and lifting they were extremely secure and confident. Very happy with them.
If you're at all serious about your squatting, these shoes are what you need. Feels amazing, allows for a very smooth movement. Only issue I had is that they're slightly more narrow than they appear in the photos. I expect them to expand a little with time, as with most shoes. If you're on the fence with these, you can feel comfortable taking the plunge.
my buddy has had these shoes for awhile now and recommended them for squating. As someone with low ankle mobility this really helped me get low in my squat while still maintaining control. I bought it for like 93$ with tax so you can't really get a better deal then that.
It's my first pair of lifting shoes. Always lifted with Chuck or barefoot. I am a recreational lifter, performing Starting strength style training in my home gym. Very impressed of the difference these shoes make in stability and support. I first thought these shoes will be overkill for my usage but pull the trigger on the purchase when they got on sale. I should have bought these shoes a while ago! I ordered the same size as my running shoes as other reviews said they were narrow. This size is perfect for me... no real confort but it was expected for these type of shoes and their purpose. These are weight-lifting shoes only. Don't assume you can perform other activities with them. Even walking take a while to get used to them.
Bought these shoes as my first weightlifting shoe. Thought I had made a good pick considering they felt great when I trained. Problem is literally one month after I started wearing them, the plastic part in the heel of one of the shoes got a crack in it. Overall, had potential to be a great weightlifting shoe, but apparently the quality just isn't there. Disappointed.
Picked up these shoes on sale for $86 from Adidas which is a great price for these shoes! Good quality shoes for the price! They fit quite narrow which is good for my narrow feet. I have to say I still really like my 2008 Adistar lifting shoes best of all! Please bring these back Adidas!
Use these primarily for squats. Coming from lifting bare-foot, I feel the slight raised heel engages the quads more and locks my feet in place. However I get less ankle mobility and can't squat as deep.
I've been a lifter for years, doing everything from squats to cleans. I had no idea what I had been missing out on until I got these shoes. The stability gives immense confidence in all your lifts and helped improved form issues I never knew I had.
I own adidas running shoes that are size 7 women. However, i followed the advice of the reviewers and order a size down. 6.5. That was a mistake. The shoe was too small. However, the quality of the shoe seemed sturdy and the heel seemed stable. But I could not try them on. The color of the shoe was not my taste. I returned them. I am frustrated by the fact there are no color options for women and the men sizing on weightlifting shoes are too big. The adidas websites lowest size for men is a 7, which is a size 8ish for women. Thus, i ended up buying from another brand because of lack of color, and sizing. I hope adidas will offer more colors in women selection and sizing options in the men selection.
My squats and deadlifts are perfect using these shoes. They are obviously for weightlifting, so walking around in them is slightly awkward, and they are somewhat tight at the point where the top of my foot meets my shin, but not TOO uncomfortable. You need rigidity for weightlifting, and for that purpose these shoes are excellent.
Really pleased with my new lifters!! Delivered within 3 days as well which was great! Sizing comes up slightly big so if I were to get another pair I would definitely go half a size smaller. Very comfy and a pleasure to train in!! Highly recommend!!
I've been CrossFitting for 4 years all have been told many times to buy a pair of lifters... well I finally did and I'm very happy with them. They take some time to get used to (not brand specific) but hold my feet in place and help me land heavy lifts. As I've never owned another pair, I can't compare them to anything else but Adidas is the leader in weightlifting gear.
Awesome shoes for exercises that require ankle mobility. My go to pair when squatting, overhead pressing, and rowing (helps with setting up in starting position). Also, really stable compared to my old chucks and doesn't collapse or compress when moving your feet side to side.
These shoes are a little stiff/tight around the toes...not much flexibility. But that's because their purpose is to stabilize your feet when lifting weights which they do excellently. Also they don't breath very well so my feet start to get hot towards the end of my workout. But they eliminated the pains I was having in the sides of my foot so its worth it to me.
I love these shoes! Man I can tell about an 80% difference in the way my squats feel! My first squat with them I drove through the floor and did reps with a heavier weight than usual! Definitely gonna help me with that gain train!
I wear specialty athletic shoes. These do not fit like basic running shoes so don't compare to your runners. If you wear sport specific athletic shoes (I play collegiate volleyball) and buy sport specific shoes choose the same size. I went a size down per reviews and they were too small.
I bought these after seeing a number of pros wearing them, and reading rave reviews online. The shoes have helped me hit new PRs on my squats, thanks to the raised and rock solid heel that provides great stability.
If your on the fence about buying these you need to jump I've been researching shoes for months and I can honestly say these are the best thing I've bought for myself in a long time, paired up with some knee sleeves my workouts have been phenomenal.
