I finally worn out my second pair of supernova 7's and fancied an upgrade to the new supernova 9. Felt fine when I tried them on, but after a few miles running in them, I was feeling a discomfort under both my feet arches. Whilst there is huge amounts of cushioning, this was far too soft and resulted in my foot hitting the harder mid cushioning layer. felt like stepping on a stone every time I ran. I cannot run in these shoes, they are too painful. the old supernovas were great - i would recommend them to any neutral runner. the newest design is oh so terrible. £100 wasted.
Great for over-pronaters for long runs. The boost system does well in reducing shocks through body for each step taken in the run. With these trainers i can run a half marathon and do have any issue.s
This is a terrible update of my favorite trainer. It is basically a completely different shoe from the Glide 8. The new version feels clunky. They added about a half inch of stack height to the shoe for some reason. The tongue is ridiculously long and does not stay in place. It slides way over to the inside of the shoe. I went through 9 pairs of the Glide over the past three years and loved them. Now Adidas doesn't have a normal daily trainer in their lineup, so unfortunately I will have to look at other brands.
Incredibly comfortable shoe with a responsive cushion. The material in the front is a bit thin so that took getting used to, but I appreciate its stretch and breathability. Also, I have plantar fasciitis, but these provide just enough arch support -- haven't felt any pain while running!! My feet are slightly wider and these shoes fit perfectly. The dark purple/white pair looks great and matches everything. Definitely worth the money.
Wow I really did not like this shoe. Going back a shoe generation, the Supernova Glide 8 is my all-time favorite running shoe. In my opinion, it has an ideal balance of cushion and weight and makes running an absolute pleasure over almost any surface. That’s why I was so excited to try these new shoes, the Adidas Supernova (ordered directly from Adidas). The promise of 20% more cushion with only a .1 ounce weight gain coupled with slightly better heel lockdown was extremely intriguing and I couldn’t wait to try them out. Unfortunately, instead of having an even better experience than the one I had with the Glide 8, I had the WORST experience I’ve ever had with running shoes, and I’ve worn quite a few! First, the mid-section of the shoe is so tight that I felt like the blood flow had cut off in my feet. Let me just say, I’m 5’8, weigh 150, and I most certainly do NOT have wide feet. If anything, they’re on the narrow side. As a size 11, the length of the shoe was fine, but the mid-section was absolutely constricting. Second, on the left shoe, the top left Adidas stripe on the shoe was connected to a border material that was literally pushing into my foot when I ran. It felt like someone was jamming their finger into my foot. My immediate reaction was to redo/loosen the laces on the shoe and to adjust the shoe generally, but to no avail. It was such an unpleasant experience that I had to stop a half mile into my run because the shoes were hurting my feet so much. Even more than I am disappointed, I’m baffled that a shoe company like Adidas could create something so great with the Glide 8 and could turn around and design something as poor as this. Adidas, did you not test these extensively before release? Could this be a quality/control issue in manufacturing? Suffice it to say I will be sending these back. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that I did not toss my Supernova Glide 8’s (phew!) and will be very happily returning to them tomorrow morning.
I have worn many running shoes over the last 8 years. When this series first started using the boost foam a few years back it quickly became my favorite shoe. Every year they make slight changes but largely keep the Glide boost the same. This is a good thing. This shoe is perfection for long distance road running. It's super comfortable, yet responsive. The glide boost sits perfectly in the middle of every thing I look for in a shoe.
I have been having trying to find the right fit for my foot and have tried many brands and wasted lots of money only to compromise. I thought I would give adidas a try and the supernova 8 is a perfect fit! The style is good too because most comfortable shoes these days are eighteen shades of neon. I hope you don't change a thing because I am now a loyal adidas wearer. I wish the black was still available in size 12 but that's my only complaint. Perfect for narrow feet!
This shoe is bullet proof. I had an earlier version of the Glide in which I trained for a marathon, wore in the weight room, did both crossfit and boot-camp workouts and the shoe never wore out. The most recent version is just as solid. The boost technology is amazing. As one who wore Asics for years I can now say I am an Adidas convert.
love the feel of boost on the shoe... the torsion system gets torn up pretty quickly and isn't the most stylish shoe... but works great for cross country and has a lot of mileage with minimum signs of being worn!
I got these for my upcoming Cross Country season. My previous trainers were the Adidas Energy Boosts 2. These supernovas are pretty similar to the energy boosts, but I think that I like them a little bit more. First of all i think that these are a bit more durable and have better traction. I have had them for about two weeks and have ran a 10 mile race in them, they are very comfortable and have not given me any problems so far. The only thing I don't like about this shoe is that it is a little heavy.
Very pleased with theses trainers. The fit suits my narrow feet and have been comfortable straight out of the box. I have experimented with other make trainers recently but will now stick with adidas for the long term.
Very comfortable shoes. I had worn out shoes before so I decided to buy these and I didn't really have to break them in. Just put on these shoes and run! On my first run(on a track) they felt great. It gave my legs great support. The quality of the shoe is my favourite thing. I can just hold this shoes in front of me and be in awe of it. I also like to wear Adidas socks with these shoes, it makes everything far more perfect being geared up with Adidas. #allin #firstneverfollows
picked these up in the sales at 50% off. Absolute steal. Love the boost feel and energy return, was a little skeptical at first but they really do feel that good. Fit is a little on the snug side, so recommend going half a size up if you've got wide feet like me.
I love everything about this shoe. The cushioning is amazingly comfortable. My toes aren't constricted and my heel is held properly. The Continental tread should be durable. I tried a couple of other Boost models before finding this great shoe.
I think the glide boost 8 is an improvement on the 7 version. Fit is the same but shoe feels more comfortable due to the improved tongue and heel fabrics. Excellent training shoe for high mileage runners and highly recommend it.
First, the shoe is a great combination of cushion and response. The transition is seamless between foot plant and toe-off. Second, the upper is very comfortable. While the forefoot is a little narrow for me there are no friction points because the material works with the foot and is very forgiving. Great shoe, wish Adidas had a trail version.
This shoe is perfect for me. I hope Adidas continues to make this shoe without changing much. The last shoe I used was a different brand and was way too cushy and soft and actually ended up causing foot and ankle pain. I switched to the Supernova Glide Boost 8 based on a recommendation and couldn't be happier. I've been running with this shoe for a couple months now. The shoe is supportive, comfortable, and still manages to be responsive. The Boost material is phenomenal. I highly recommend this shoe.
I have worn Adidas Sambas for over a decade for a comfortable, stylish, knock-around shoe. For walking and sports, I've been wearing Asics Gel-Nimubs, which are very comfortable, but lack real style and fall apart after one year. So far I really like these Supernovas - they're cushy, but not overly soft, very stylish, and fit well.
This is my favorite running shoe. I will probably buy two more pairs just to have for the future. I really hope Adidas will make future versions of this shoe that are close to identical. The last shoe I used was the Asics Gel Nimbus 17 (felt phenomenal in store) and these ended up being much too soft. After about two months the shoes started bottoming out (and I'm only 170 lbs) and hurting my feet, causing nerve pain to the point I had to stop running. Based on a personal recommendation from SoleReview I decided to try the Supernova Glide 8 and I am extremely pleased. The shoes are extremely comfortable and at the same time responsive. The Boost material really performs phenomenally. I've had these shoes for a couple months now. I'm a neutral runner, usually run 20-25 km a week on pavement, 170 lbs, land flat footed, and these shoes have been perfect. With every shoe in the past I've always had at least some minor issue, or wanted for something to be just a little different, but the Supernova Glide 8 has really been perfect for me and I wouldn't change a thing.
Over the past year I've tried the ultra boost (not enough support) and the sequence boost (too bulky) and I finally found the perfect running shoe for me. I've been running 4-8 miles in these every day for 2 weeks and they've been holding up great. As you can see from the picture the only part that has been wearing down is the plastic torsion system in the middle, but that's not a big deal. If you don't run on rocky trails like I do this wouldn't be a problem for you. Overall this shoe is great!
I had been using Asics because of the arch support. I love adidas in general, but was hesitant to switch because I'm trying to become a serious race walker. I regularly train with 10 to 15 mile fast walks, so while I'm not a runner, I still need extremely supportive and comfortable shoes. The Supernova Glide 8 gives more support than I had, excellent arch support, and yes, the Bounce technology is a step forward. You feel more 'lively' in each step.
Adidas Supernova Glide 8 This is the shoe I have been looking for. If you are a runner you fully understand what I’m talking about here. We all seek ”that” shoe that will contribute to the pleasures of running, and not just another pair of shoes that will enable you to run. Yes, this shoe enables you to run, but dang it is the most comfortable shoe I’ve had to date. I put in over 50 miles a week on the road…which is difficult on it’s own, since it is road running after all …not trail. But these shoes have really changed my outlook on the road. Quality: I have probably 150 miles on these so far and no major sign of wear and tear. I was worried about the Continental sole, since I had heard it wears fast, I have not experienced this. It’s funny that I talked trash on these shoes before trying them, saying the Boost was a scam. Trust me, it is no scam. We will see if it breaks down, supposedly it does not….it’s like magic. Score 5/5 Comfort: There is a reason why this shoe was voted Runner's World Editor's Choice twice. Fit is snug, not as snug as a Salomon Sense Pro. That said it is not tight in anyway, so wider feet peeps I would not worry too much, the mesh upper I think will adapt nicely. The toe box is no Altra, so if you are looking the spread the toes this is not the shoe. Good ventilation so far, but haven’t had them in temp’s over 90 yet…and not looking forward to that anyways… Weighing in at 10.7 ounces (size 9) I really wish they were a bit lighter, but for an everyday runner it’s within range of competitors. Also, I would rather have a great shoe that weights 10.7 than a bad shoe that weights 9. Score 5/5 Price: At $130 Retail - this is a great price for the Boost line. Anything above this is my tipping point though. 5/5 Looks: Adidas always keeps it so fresh and so clean. Score 5/5 Overall: 20/20
These are the 4th Supernova's I have worn and the Supernova Glide 8s don't disappoint. The are extremely comfortable and the boost technology is very apparent and a plus. These are great when walking too, as they are my favorite for walking long distances (10 miles).
Goodness Gracious Me! I feel like i'm walking on the moon on air! These trainers arrived today and are unbelievably comfortable, I think more than the ESM range that I also bought! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE TRAINERS! Superb!!!! I love the additional Achilles support too!
I just love these shoes. I had previously had more cushioned/supportive shoes, but these feel much less restrictive, but still with enough support and cushioning to make the miles pass easily. They are for neutral runners, but I have mild over-pronation (not a lot) and they aren't giving me any issues. I am a mid-foot striker. The boost is great, really responsive. Firm at lift off, and then gives you extra spring. The shoes feel lighter than they actually are. I tend to run 5-10 km, maybe 3-4 times a week, and they are holding up really well. I think that they look good, too!
