Rated 5 out of 5Â by HawkMom Awesome shoe; runs a little big
Bought these for my teenage son. He LOVES the color and the feel of the shoe. He did some light lifting at home & feels the stability the shoe will provide while training and at his meets. However, we will have to exchange them for a smaller size. I should have taken the advice of the other reviews. He normally wears a size 11 in Adidas so that is what I purchased. He Definately needs a size 10 1/2- especially since this type of shoe shoe properly fit for the purposes of lifting. It appears that the blue/slime is completely sold out at this time, and no other colors are available in size 10 1/2... Adidas, PLEASE speed production (:

I do Crossfit and was looking for a better lifting shoe, but was also looking for something more versatile than the Risto. I found them! This shoe is lightweight yet does not lack stability while doing oly lifting during WODs. I am able to go from station to station without difficulty and without feeling like I need to change my shoes. I have not done box jumps yet but the only thing I don't prefer to do so far in these shoes is running. I will be interested to see how they wear in the long run since I am used to the wood bottom, but if they are durable I will definitely buy another pair. I recommend a 1/2 to a size larger than you wear in an INNOV8 if you wear them.

Go with a half size smaller or the smallest comfortable shoe size. I wear a 11.5 or 12. I settled with a 11.5 and they fit snug... i still have room in the toe area. They do run big but i'm sure an 11 would be uncomfortably small.
Don't play it safe and get a larger size ! I first got a 12 and they were huge! I had to return for the half size smaller. You don't want to squat with huge Olympic style shoes that just makes you more unstable.
also.. Adidas has a great return policy!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Snarf Perfect all around weight training shoe
When I purchased these I was concerned that the sole would be too rigid to allow adequate foot flexion for exercises like calf raises, but was was pleasantly surprised by the the flexibility of the front of the shoe. The back of the shoe is perfect for Squats, Deads, etc. and really "locks" your feet into place.
The round toe box is narrow although in my case the fit was spot on. There was no variance in sizing when compared to regular shoes in my case. I should mention that I have a regular to narrow foot with longer toes, so those with a wide or stubby type foot might find the toe box too snug.
I can't say how the long term quality will be, but I was/am impressed (but not surprised since it's Adidas) with how supple the upper is. Overall this shoe is absolutely perfect - even the price is right.

Unfortunately, the expectation of a shoe with name Power LIft Trainer along with the descriptive text indicating the shoe was inspired by Olympic weightlifting shoes, is that the shoe would offer much greater stability and hardness of sole. The only significant difference from my perspective between an Olympic lifting shoe and and that used for powerlifting is the height of the heel. While this shoe delivers with regard to heel height, the material of the heel/sole and most likely, internal padding/sock liner are much too soft to support the heavy loads from squatting, where solid support is imperative. For benchmark purposes, the Adidas weightlifting shoe circa mid/late 1970's had the right 'feel' of stability powerlifters require.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by SkeletonSlider Good first pair of Oly lifting shoes
These are a great first pair of Olympic lifting shoes. I spend a lot of time in the gym doing squats and cleans as well as many other things. I only use these shoes for my olympic lifts(cleans and snatches), deadlifts, and squats. They weren't meant to be used for other activities, just like ski boots are just for skiing. They really set you up in a good position to have a technically great lift. I would reccomend these if you are looking for a shoe to take your lifting to the next level. They are very stable and offer the right kind of support for heavy lifts. As a female, they don't make lifting shoes for women, so I did end up getting a 1/2 size smaller after I had my first pair for only 2 months. The new pair arrived the other day and they fit great!

This is the first time I have purchased shoes specifically for lifting and these are turning out to be the perfect choice for me as a relative beginner. They arrived fast, fit great and have already made a huge difference in the way I feel during Olympic lifting class. I use them for dedicated lifting and have also used them for Crossfit workouts that have lifting included. They have worked well for both.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by AustinGeoffs Solid Entry Shoe
Bought these shoes about 2 months ago after lifting in running shoes previously. I will never go back. Lifting shoes make your base feel so much more solid, there is just no comparison.
Pros: Reasonably Priced
Cons: As weight increases (squat over 300lbs and deadlift approaching 400) the heels tend to squish just a little. Nothing like running shoes but I do notice it.
Overall: Good entry weightlifting shoe.

I have recently dived in the sport of Crossfit. I upped my membership and started putting together a "tackle box" of equipment to make my new addiction safer. These Oly Lifters are perfect for me. Hard, flat sole for those heavy lifts have really increased my technique, which in turn has allowed for heavier lifts but more importantly SAFER lifts. Think of it this way, better to spend the money on these shoes then the co-pays at the chiropractor.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Cfguy Great CrossFit Shoe, not the best lifting shoe
I am a croosfit coach and bought these shoes because they were very affordable and I needed to replace my last pair of lifting shoes. The shoes are much lighter than any other oly shoe I've ever used which is great for WOD's, but don't have the best heel support for your lifts. I'd still recommend the shoe for crossfitters.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by gphrank Cost effective entry-level option
The Power Lift trainer shoes are really quite good for the money. There are some definite positives, but a couple areas that I think are open for improvement as well.
On the positive side, you have styling, heel drop, construction, and comfort (or at least half of it). With regards to styling, these are a very attractive looking shoe; most power lifters won't care too much about this, but frankly they do look a lot better than some of the traditional shoes available and at a better price point. Compared to any of the Oly shoes on the market these are a relatively low drop shoe, making them very suitable for squat, OHP, and bench, but I will still wear a barefoot shoe for deadlifting. The construction appears to be very good, which was a concern of mine in what is sure to be a very low volume shoe. Everything was uniform, well assembled, and 'tight' feeling. The shoes have a very good fit and can be pulled very tight with the laces alone, and the strap gives some extra clamp-down power. They are not comfortable in a traditional sense given the flat, rigid sole, but given what they are these are a comfortable option.
On the negative side, I have a couple of issues with the design and function, but nothing terribly major. I personally feel that the velcro strap needs to be moved further down the foot. It sits rather high, and almost does more to keep the ankle locked into place rather than locking the foot as a whole down. Also, if you pull very tight it fails to line up properly and doesn't lay entirely flat. These are not major issues, but are opportunities for improvement in my opinion. The other item relates back to comfort and has to do with the tongue. While I would not want too much cushion (which would hamper the ability to get tight) I noticed very quickly that I had a good deal of pain along the top of my foot from the laces and a fold in the tongue. I think if the tongue were slightly more rigid it would resolve the folding issue and would offer some protection from the laces along the top of the foot.
Overall functionality is quite good for a beginner shoe. The foam in the shoe is definitely dense enough to stand up to a pretty substantial amount of weight, although it will almost certainly start to compress for heavy lifters squatting large amounts. As dense as this foam is, I don't think anybody will make the mistake of saying it will perform like a wooden heel, but again, for lighter lifters this is going to be a very good option.
At the end of the day it is hard to get a better shoe for the money, especially if you are just getting started in power lifting.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by suboh Aptly named shoe.
I've tried Chucks, casual athletic shoes, running shoes, barefoot, and Olympic weightlifting shoes. For my style of raw squatting, well below parallel moderate stance, these are perfect. This is the first shoe that I would say has facilitated and improvement in my squatting form. Running shoes and casual athletic shoes are unstable. Chucks are suited for a wide sit back type style more typical to geared squatting. The lack of elevated heel in Chucks makes them ineffective for a deep raw squat. Olympic shoes are great for a Olympic style squat but make it difficult to sit back any. As a result they place great stress on quads. These are stable and provide a sufficient heel for deep raw squat that is between a suited/wide powerlifting squat and an Olympic high bar deep squat.

I've always thought Adidas made dependable and long lasting shoes. Now I know these shoes will last. Other online stores do not even have weightlifting shoes. I love them. Since my job requires me to lift heavy weight regularly, it is clear I wear these shoes alot. Thank you again. I've already recommended these to my coworkers as well as my workout buddies.

Rated 5 out of 5 Great Beginner Shoe!
Although these babies are no Adi-powers they're great for the beginning oly lifter. They run true to size, so they will take a while to break-in. The shoes have been great in stabilizing my feet. The sole allows me to get out of the bottom of a front or back squat with such ease that the only thing i regret is not buying these shoes at the beginning. I highly recommend these shoes. They will let you forget about your feet and let you concentrate on other parts of the lift while you perform.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by ArmyOthreeGuy Skip the Do-Wins - Get These
I am currently in Afghan (yes, Adidas ships to APO addresses) and did not bring my Do-Wins because I didnt have space, and honestly, they are just too heavy. After reading reviews, I decided to give these a try. Mostly, I wear Innov-8's for all my lifts, including OH Squats. I recived these in about 9 days from date of order and slapped them on. I am a 12.5 and these FIT PERFECTLY at 12.5. They are super LIGHT, and I decided to break them in with some split jerks. I would normally shy away from split jerks with my Innov-8s because I desire a stable base, and those sneakers (Innov-8) really don't do it for me. I warm up with a few 135# back squats, and am happy with the feel, and NO FOOT MOVEMENT in these. I then begin the split Jerks, the workout was 5 x 1. I begin at 170#, and end at 215#. I could've gotten 225#, but being that this was my first real attempt at split jerks, the mental of 225# was too much, but 215# did get up fast (bar speed was good, able to drop under the bar pretty fast). Overall foot work was fast, and it felt like I had nothing on my feet in comparison to the Do-Wins, and they required no break in, they are excellent. Some people complain that the strap is too high, but I think thats an issue with ankle mobility, I felt no issue with the straps placement. Overall, I would recommend these over the Do-Wins, they are lighter, cheaper, and just feel attached to my feet better than the Do-Wins. If your new to Olympic lifting and are looking for a reliable OLY shoe, these are it. I think I have wide feet, and these offer no discomfort, and I wore them for 2 hours straight. The rule of thumb is that they should fit snug, so if your a 12, get a 12 and you'll be alright.

I was hesitant about buying these shoes at first but I have no regrets. The fit is true, very snug, but in no way restictive. They made an immediate, positive impact on my performance. The Power Lift Trainer Shoes definitely deliver.
I would have gladly purchased the Adipower Weightlifting Shoes, but I didn't care for the one color they offered.

These Adidas power lift trainers are yucky. My lifting involves the 6 Big lifts, Squats, Dead Lifts, Bench presses, overhead press, power clean, and skull crushers. The shoe perform excellent, my feet feel solid in the squat and other lifts. The sole is very stiff, much more than a non-lifting shoe. If you are a rank novice this shoe will serve you well in the gym for years. This shoe is not intended for plyo, climbing rope, double-unders, or crossfit in general. It is a lifting shoe.

I can do Box jumps, double unders, push ups, and of course all ur Olympic lifts.. Sturdy but light weight makes this shoe the so much better than other shoes that are heavier.. These shoes are a must for me!!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Richie W Two things: first, the color of the shoe, once it's out of the box, is a bit more silver-grey than pictured here; two, the fit is a bit narrow. It is, however, an excellent shoe. In general, you want a snug fit: most have recommended you order-down a size or half size, because of this. But, if you're like me, and have wide feet, just go ahead and order your normal sneaker size. I did, and am very happy with the fit. Primarily I use these to squat in. I do high-bar, close-stance olympic squats; and these are perfect for me. I am transitioning from using flat-soled shoes and find these help me to achieve depth and engage my quadriceps more. Really, I wish I had purchased them much sooner. They are practical, and attractive; and they sell for a great price. Shipping was very fast as well, and free. Highly recommended.

I got these shoes a couple of weeks ago. I have always just used my running shoes for working out and I just got tired not being able to stay balanced on some lifts. Then I bought these shoes. They are amazing! Automatically they bumped up my wights and increased form outrageously. These shoes will keep your feet flat on the floor when you need it the most. They will help with your balance when lifting overhead or squating. Overall they are great shoes for a weightlifter. I recommend these shoes to anybody that wants to make their time in the gym a whole lot better.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Vrock a dooby Solid Crossfit Choice
These are a solid pair of shoes for Olympic lifts with crossfitting, which is mostly how I am wearing them. I wouldn't wear them running, obviously, but for short distances and other endurance cardio like pullups, jumping rope, etc. they aren't too heavy like some OLY shoes. That was a priority for me.
In my Olympic lifts during a CF workout, I feel more stable now. I am not going super heavy, but I do execute challenging weight for myself and these are a good match for that.
As for fit, my foot is wide. These felt snug at first wearing, but after a few workouts, they were fine. As some have stated, I found the positioning of the velcro strap a bit odd. Whether you lace them to the top or to the eye holes just below the top, the velcro strap sits below that position. I wish the strap covered the laces when they are tied.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by hydrophilic Excellent all-around weight room shoes
If you like to lift weights, you'll probably like these shoes. They are stable enough for moderate deadlifts and squats, and more comfortable and flexible than pure olympic lifting shoes. I agree with other reviewers that they are not for competitive olympic lifters, but fine for those of uswho work cleans and snatches into our programs. Comfortable for walking, and you could probably sprint in them, though I have not tried. They seem well made and durable, but time will tell. They seem true to size, but a tiny bit on the small side, which is fine fo the purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Jim@TheGym Great shoes
Since no local retailers stock these, I purchased them straight from Adidas. Shipping was much faster than I expected (got them overnight, on a Saturday, free shipping!).
I read many reviews, stating that these shoes run narrow; I wear an 11 1/2 US, I ordered these in 11 1/2 as well. The fit is absolutely perfect, no pinching or tightness, the shoes feel like they were tailor-made for my foot.
I lifted in them for the first time today and they performed well. During today's dead lifts (465 lbs) and squats (435 lbs), my foot didn't move one bit (inside or out), the shoes provided a solid platform for my lifts. Other reviews list sole compression as a concern, I didn't notice any instability during my lifts.
The shoes breathe well, my feet were never overly hot or sweaty, they are really, really comfortable.
The Power Lift Trainers also look great! It's a shoe you could wear outside without feeling embarrassed. I wouldn't recommend long walks or running in these, when I tried walking around the grocery store after the gym, they felt very stiff...not a minus, since these are purpose-built shoes. It's possible that after a break-in period, they may feel a bit different when performing non-weightlifting activities.
The shoes appear to be pretty durable, although I haven't had them long enough to state that conclusively. Still, the build quality looks superb, which is typical Adidas.
Overall, I couldn't be happier! If you're in the market for a great lifting shoe, you should really consider the Adidas Power Lift Trainer.

I bought these because I wrecked three pairs of running shoes in 18 months from lifting weights. All of those shoes collapsed under the heel and I could not safely squat or deadlift. These shoes have a sole that will never compress under weight like those foamy running shoes will. They fit true-to-size; make sure you get a size that will fit snugly to your foot so that it does not move around inside the shoe. Best of all, they look cool.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Jason G. Nice shoes!... but for the right feet
These shoes do wonders for starting and intermediate lifters when it comes to leg / stablizing exercises.
What not to do...
Do not use these for walking / cardio workouts - the flat footed surface and tight fit is jarring on your joints/feet and will cause more wear and tear on your body than normal sneakers.
My particular issue...
I wear 10.5 to 11 - and these shoes fit perfectly for the most part. My main issue arrose when using them in the gym. Upon attempting to do a squat, the heel/sole support dug into the posterior lateral edges of my feet, near my heel. This also caused the medial arch support to be non-exsistant...
This is most likely a situational thing and might be remedied by a large size.
Other than that, these shoes work great for what they are designed for.

These are my first weightlifting shoes. I think they put you in great position for most lifts and stabilize you well, but they feel cramped and are tight in the toebox, so I immediately want to take them off after my lifts. If you have a wide foot, I'd look somewhere else for lifting shoes. If you have a narrow to normal foot, these may be perfect for you. Great price too.

These shoes are FANTASTIC for squats, deadlifts, bench, and everything in between. The heel has a bit of height to it, but not so much that it would only be good for squats. I have a bit wider feet and initially these felt too snug but after a few days of breaking them in they stretched out very nicely and feel great. Wish I would've picked up a pair of these sooner!

After reading a lot of reviews online and hitting up the Starting Strength forums, I decided to jump in and get a pair of actual weightlifting shoes. Unlike my normal running pair of shoes, these feel very sturdy at the bottom of squats and offer a lot of stability in pushing from the bottom. I've also noticed a markable difference in my presses and deadlifts with just being more stable overall.
If you're on the fence about whether or not weightlifting shoes are worth the price, make the investment in yourself and your training.

Also thought the strap would be a bit high for squats, but they are pretty comfortable.

This is my first true weight lifting shoe. I do mostly powerlifts and some cleans and snatches. Previously used Chuck T's. The Power Lifts are sturdy and solid. Your feet are firmly held in place, and feel glued flat on the floor. They are way better than CT's for deads, squats, and cleans. I was skeptical that these shoes would make a difference, but now I'm a believer.
Size runs true. I wear custom orthotics, and the shoe pinched a little around the midfoot at first. This resolved by the third workout.

Good power lifting sneakers. They have good support and a great base. They are just a little snug in the toe area, but overall great fit for powerlifting

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Spec Ops Lifter One of the best shoes for the money
I've been lifting for several years and normally use Asics wrestling shoes. For the money, this shoe is hard to beat. It is great for squats and all around lifting. They are comfortable to walk around in while working out and need very little break-in time. I would highly recommend this shoe to any lifter from novice to expert. The only downside to this shoe is that it does have a slight bit of compression to them under heavy loads. The shoe ran true to my normal shoe size.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Writer-Type Good shoe, good value!
I decided to purchase the shoe after reading some online reviews of it from various lifters and crossfitters. Everyone I read was very complimentary of the shoe...and my initial reactions are the same. It's a good stable shoe, very comfortable out of the box. So far, I'm very pleased. I initially ordered a 10, my normal size, but returned it for a 10.5. Adidas was great about getting the new shoe out in a hurry, as well as processing my refund for the returned pair.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by X-Kape Huge Difference!
Great shoes for lifting!!! I noticed the difference when doing deadlifts and squats. Previously I've done these exercises using running shoes, but it never felt stable; the cushion made me wobble a bit. With these shoes, my feet feels planted and secure. I noticed that I was able to perform the movements with much more control and better form. These shoes are great up to at least 400 lbs. Maybe even more ... I don't know. I'll have to see how much wear it can take.

I was not a believer in oly shoes, but when my wife purchased these shoes for me, I noticed a huge difference. I had trouble with balance during lifts like snatch, overhead squats and front squats.
With oly shoes that problem is pretty much in the past. If you are on the fence about oly shoes, don't worry these shoes work and the price is well worth the purchased.

I have used them for about 2 wks now and have no complaints. Notice a difference when doing squats and great thing is I don't need to switch into other shoes when doing WODs (not involving running). Don't feel heavy and I actually like the look of them. For the price a great Oly shoe...saves you quite a bit of cash but you don't loss any performance of the shoe.

If you are a women trying to find lifting shoes and your size is an 8.5 or smaller do not get these. They will not fit. I ended up sending these back and getting the Adipower ones which are more expensive but well worth it if you are serious about lifting.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Tron Adidas Power Lift Shoes
Good shoe. Definite improvement over the Chuck Taylor lows I was wearing before. I wear a 9.5 in Nikes and a 9.5 Power Lift seems to fit perfectly, didn't have to go up a half a size or drop.
I have not noticed any issues with the heels compressing but I also have yet to take any of my lifts over 300 lbs while wearing them.
Only complaint is the laces are a bit on the long side, which can lead to them getting caught in the velcro strap and getting torn up.

So I've been lifting for a good 3 years and most of which has been in bare foot shoes, so I don't know much about oly shoes... Also I've had bronchitis for the past two weeks which has stopped my lifting... I will say though, these shoes are the real deal. The one time I lifted in them I got a huge raise in my clean and jerk (20-50 lbs) going from bare foot to clunkers is a little weird though... Oh well they are subtle and great for intermediate lifters :)

Rated 4 out of 5Â by burpee double under Great Light Weight Power Lifting Shoes
I'm not an experienced power lifter but, through CrossFit, I have been introduced to the sport. I was really looking for something light so if I need to throw in some hand-stand-pushups in between my deadlifts I won't need to change my shoes. These Adidas weight lifting shoes are definitely light but provide more than enough support for the beginner/intermediate power lifter. As a side note, they definitely run large. I needed to buy a full size smaller.

This is my first pair of weight-lifting shoes and I am impressed. They offer good support and fit great. I echo the comment stated by others, I would suggest getting a half size smaller then your normal sneaker size.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Robert P Good starter shoe.
Admittedly, I was curious as to how well these would be seeing as I am getting into intermediate squat and deadlifting weights. I now wish I dished out the extra $50 of so to get the next level up. For the price they are great shoes and a big upgrade to lifting with skate shoes but the sole is a bit soft. If you are just starting off then these would be great. If you are more serious, go ahead and spend the extra cash and get the next level shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Roger Dodger Does make a difference
A real lifter watched me do some squats and said "If you're serious about squats, get some serious shoes." I did and the difference was immediately apparent. With running shoes squats feel mushy coming out of the bottom. With lifter shoes it's a solid, positive feeling. I've never felt that specialized shoes made much difference. I'm a believer now.
For sizing I just looked in my closet and ordered the smallest comfortable size I was wearing.

Great shoe! I don't know why it took me so long to get a pair! Helps in your lift and balance, and the best part is......you don't have to take them off to run a short distance!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by That Skinny Guy Great Novice Shoes
These shoes are fantastic novice shoes for those doing Starting Strength. Heel raise of 0.5" is ideal and the shoe fits snug, securing the heel and welding your foot to the ground for strong drives. Toebox is a little tight and takes getting used to, but is a necessary quality of a proper power/oly lifting shoe.

First off these shoes are just comfortable! Secondly, they provide a sense of support as I set-up particularly the weight shift to my rear foot. Thirdly, I have a firm base as I complete the lift sequence and hold. With these shoes I been told that I appear more stable and have a safer transition throughout the Olympic lift sequence. I really believe these shoes is a key component to my training namely safety. Shoes really do matter!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by fromafar satisfied
a well constructed quality lifting shoe for a reasonable price. good snug fit overall, which I prefer (no slipping within the shoe), good solid footing for heavy lifts; heel height and sole provide stable, comfortable platform, not to mention that perceived weight-bearing on knees is evenly distributed which is especially critical to someone with one total knee replacement prosthesis and damaged cartilage in the other knee
