Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT Tennis Shoe! In July 2013, I used the Barricade 3 (all blue color) playing in the World Maccabiah Games that are held in Israel only once every 4 years. The shoe was a little heavy, but I got used to it quickly, since it provided really good traction on the red clay courts of the tournament. After the Games, I bought the Adidas Barricade 8 tennis shoe in white; this shoe wasn't available before I played in the Games in Israel. The Barricade 8 is simply a great clay court shoe with the herringbone sole providing excellent traction. I like this shoe for 4 more reasons: 1. It is lighter weight than the blue Barricade 3 clay court shoe that also has a herringbone pattern sole. 2. It fits extremely well -- the toe seems slightly wider than the Barricade 3; the 8 is very easy to put on and is VERY comfortable 3. I love the all white color -- looks great. Not a fan of the other psychedelic colors of this shoe -- love the white -- always a classic. 4. The Barricade 8 does equally as well on hard court, but has extremely good traction on clay. I put my own orthotic insoles in all my tennis shoes, but only use Adidas tennis shoes, which I find to be the most comfortable tennis shoe out there, with the right feel of a toe box and overall fit. Wish Adidas would make more of an arch in their insole pads, but most other tennis shoe manufacturers don't do that either, hence the reason for putting in my own. The Barricade 8 is a GREAT tennis shoe -- the right weight (not too heavy at all#, the right fit, excellent support without being restrictive #some of the earlier Barricades I find to be too stiff, heavier and restrictive) -- Great job, Adidas -- with the 8, you made a FANTASTIC tennis shoe! Thanks... February 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally a Barricade that rivals the Barricade 2 I have worn barricades since the 1st version but standardized on the Barricade II for last 10 years( 50+ pairs worn). I kept trying the latest models of the barricade but could not move to them because they were just not as comfortable and stable as the Barricade IIs. I have found a winner. The Barricade 8 matches the comfort and stability of the Barricade II and offers the newest technology from the Adidas brand. I have worn them every day for the last month during practice and tournaments and they have withstood the durability and comfort test with aplomb. September 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exactly what I wanted I have been a long time fan of Adidas tennis shoes. When I came across the custom 8s I could not resist creating my own. The barricade 7s were my previous shoe and the transition to 8s have been no problem. Just pick your normal shoe size and they will fit just fine. Like all barricades, the 8s have a little weight to them but they give me a feel of stability that I don't get from light weight shoes. I am 26 and have been playing competitively and recreationally for about 15 years. These shoes are solid and customizable. Exactly what I was looking for. Good job Adidas! September 8, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by I'm sticking to the 7s Without a pivot point on the ball of the foot the shoe loses much of its traction on a hard court. A pivot point would be a break in the design, like a circle or something similar, to provide more traction to the player when changing direction. This shoe, with the continuous herringbone design would be great for clay courts and should be advertised as such, but is an awful shoe for hard court play. I played tennis or coach tennis nearly 45 hours a week and have been playing with barricades for nearly my entire tennis career and am sorely disappointed with these shoes. I should have known better than to buy shoes for hard court play with out soles of this design. Check out the barricade 7s; they are fantastic shoes. August 13, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Stick to 7.0 The 8.0 is an extremely poor shoe. I was sent shoe as warranty replacement for my 7.0 shoes, which I absolutely loved. The tongue is so thin and without any hardness to it, its really hard to lace up shoe and have tongue sit where it should, and the laces dig into your upper foot. The sole is so hard, no cushioning, my feet were so sore, as was my back. The upper part of shoe is so cheap looking, with its plastic fake mesh, and so flimsy, if you are looking for any lateral ankle support, forget about it. I surely wish they just kept making 7.0. Horrible shoe, stay away January 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Don't pass up this baby! Barricade 8, what a great combination of comfort and control right out of the box. I'm 6' 2" in height and weigh 220 Lbs. So I put my shoes under a lot of stress on the tennis court. I've owned Barricades since the Barricade 5 and have loved all of them for one reason or another but, this Barricade 8 is the pinnicle of shoe performance and comfort. Great traction, control and comfort. I also like that I can get my shoes customized. I haven't done the customizing yet, but, I most definetly will for a second pair of Barricade 8's. And of course, I always like that I can buy the Adidas shoes in 13 1/2 size, so much better than clopping around in size 14's. Adidas is number one in my book. They really care about us. Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Uncomfortable I bought the shoes for the support but all I got was a heavier shoe and it dug into my ankle while playing. I'd rather play with my bare feet. April 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by the Best Quite possibly the best tennis shoes ever made . July 9, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best tennis shoe Long time fan of Barricades but had switched to lighter shoes the last couple of years. Even though this version is not extremely light it strikes the perfect balance with unbelievable support. January 13, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best Adidas shoe I've ever owned The only reason I did not rate them great at this time is because I've only had them a couple of weeks. So far, I really do like them. I especially like the width as compared to my previous Adidas shoes....the 8' is a little wider and more comforable. January 23, 2014
