Rated 5 out of 5 by These Shoes Keep Me in the Game Some number of years ago I realized that wearing cleats, molded or otherwise, was no longer a comfortable experience, so if I was going to continue to referee I needed to find a shoe that I could work in and not regret it at the end of the match. I was hooked after my first pair of Team Mundial Turf Studs. The fit and durability (I do clean and polish them before each match.) are the key features for me. I can get about a year and a half out of a pair, so I feel the purchase is money well spent. As long as I continue to referee and adidas continues to offer the Team Mundial Turf Stud, this will be my shoe of choice. Thanks adidas for keeping me in the game ! October 30, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great performer on all surfaces I've been playing with this shoe exclusively on turf and even grass fields and have to say that is as close to the "jack-of-all-trades" shoe as you're gonna find. From soccer of all flavors to ultimate frisbee to football, I've never been let down by these and they have stayed comfortable to the bitter end. I'm buying a new pair because after 4 years (and two new insoles) the shoe finally blew up and the sole nearly ripped clean off. Considering how often I used them, 4 years is an amazing life span. The only complaint I have is that the insoles are not removable, but that is to be expected from a performance-minded shoe. I would recommend these shoes to all players, but do be aware that leather stretches, so what is tight out of the box will be perfect, and what is perfect may eventually get a bit loose, etc. April 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Classic versatility and trusted performance I've been wearing this shoe for almost 2 decades. It performs beautifully on several different playing surfaces (astro turf and field turf for sure, but I've also had success with them on dry grass, dirt and sand fields), providing traction and comfort. With all the new technology and advancements made in the footwear industry, I keep coming back to the Mundial Team for their trusted quality, performance and comfort. June 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Classic... You can't go wrong with adidas when it comes to football/soccer. The Mundial Team are ideal for turf play (yes... obviously) but also for great for grass-play on firmer pitches. Here in Georgia it doesn't rain as much as it does back in the UK, so I can play in turf shoes on grass, even in the rain, pretty much year round. I broke in the MT's by wearing them around the house on and off for a few days... then to the store etc... just taking it easy... gradually wearing them more & more (ONLY for the break-in period though, now I only use the for training/matches on turf/grass) They were a little snug out of the box - my left foot is 9.5 US and my right is a 9 US - I purchased an 8.5 US. Now, two weeks later... they fit like a glove... That'll be the Kangaroo leather. When I was choosing which shoes to purchase I picked the MT's for these reasons: 1. I trust Adidas when it comes to Football (Period). 2. This shoe has been around 30-years (and wouldn't still be here if it wasn't relevant). 3. Kangaroo leather - it doesn't get softer than this... 4. When you break in these shoes, its like playing in glove like slippers... and I like playing in slippers! 5. Touch & Feel: Slipper like boots = good touch without loss of protection. 6. Protection: I deal with "big-footed / stampy / pushy" defenders for 90 mins, I need to feel protected and lightweight boots just don't cut it. To the critics that say they're too heavy or only good for defenders... The 5 or 6oz difference between these shoes and a super light cleat really is nothing, even if you're a striker or a winger you can wear these shoes. On that note... If you're slow I doubt it's because of the shoes... i.e. wearing the same shoes as Ronaldo or Messi will not make you the next Ronaldo or Messi... (Which makes me wonder what shoes they wore during the formative years of their respective careers - I doubt they were 1oz carbon fiber slippers!). So for the youngsters out there... You'll adapt to the weight difference, and you'll get stronger doing it. And for the older guys like me, it's a no brainer - these are so comfortable it's ridiculous... you'll forget about your shoes and just focus on the game. Hopefully I've convinced you to go ahead and buy these great shoes. If you look after them properly, they'll last for years. On that note: 1. Clean and towel dry after wear (a little warm water should do it). 2. Stuff with newspaper to absorb water. 3. Leave to dry overnight out of direct sunlight and away from heat. 4. Invest in some 'leather food' from England, to treat, nourish and protect the best turf shoes you'll ever own. Hopefully you'll find this review helpful. There are a lot of shoes out there, but not many as good as these. January 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by the perfect exercise shoes for men or women I don't play soccer but I wear these for exercise classes. I have bought other Adidas indoor soccer shoes before, but this is a must have for exercise classes. It's worth every penny I spent. The real leather is very soft and fits my feet like a glove, providing the stability that I need for my aerobics/pilates exercise class. The sole also provides stability for my feet allowing me to concentrate on the movements I need for the exercises instead of trying to balance my feet as I follow the trainer in class. I highly recommend this style of Adidas for anyone who does pilates or aerobics or Zumba classes. January 5, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Classic high quality shoe I actually wore this same shoe back in the late 80's while playing high school soccer--I think it was called Beckenbaur Special---best soccer shoe I ever played back then. Now I am back into coaching and playing and this shoe is every bit as good or better than the original. Nice soft kangaroo leather and comfortable. Perfect shoe for all conditions except very wet/muddy. May 2, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Extended tongue & size The quality of the extended tongue is very poor, you can see the edge of the foam is very irregular and inferior. Also, the size of my feet is quite small, but the size of the shoe is not as same as the regular line. Can I return and replace one in US size 5.5 to me? April 21, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Split near the bottom outside heel After about 6 games...the shoe split apart in the foamy section on the rear right outer heel. Only wore the shoe during game day and played on a turf field. I expect a shoe of this price that is only worn during games to last at least several years. Very disappointing for my first and last Adidas purchase. November 20, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Another Great Pair of Turfs I am a high level soccer referee and when it comes to running in the middle or side suffling on the line these Copa Mundial Turfs shoes are it! They have great grip that keep you from slipping no matter the weather conditions. The fit is snug from the moment you put them on and it conforms more to your feet the more you wear them. There is a reason why this adidas product is always available and has been in stores/online for such a long time - they are great! April 4, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by What can I say? My favorite turf shoe, bar none. I use the copa's for outdoor, and the mundial's for indoor. I have been playing for almost 20 years now, and still these are the best, most conistant boots that i have used. Last darn near forever. September 20, 2010
