Rated 3 out of 5Â by meGrimlock great looking shoe - not so long distance
these shoes will get you noticed by those who are old enough to remember the originals and even those who aren't.
the biggest drawback is the thin and narrow outersole and even thinner inner sole; they weren't made for walkin'
if you are wearing them around the house or in the office then they are an excellent choice. but if you are trekking around the city for great distances, taking a short hike, or any sort heavy sporting activity, these shoes do not provide enough comfort or support.
my theory on how to get the best out of this shoe is to treat it like a barefoot shoe. you might have to change the way you walk to get the most comfort from this shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Dave T At Last I Can Wear Old-School SL 72's Again!
I had a pair of the original West German-made SL 72 shoes back in the mid 70's and loved them. They were so comfortable, great-fitting, long-lasting, and about the best looking trainers I have ever owned. They were thrown out in 1981 and I have missed them ever since! I have been looking for a replacement for those shoes since the mid 80's and these are the closest match so far.

These shoes are great...very cool throw back to the originals my grandad once wore! If you like a low profile shoe and want to have you won't see on other people...these are the shoes for you.
One word of caution...the tongue is plastic...so they squeak a bit...but, that is part of the charm!

I actually have a pair of the originals from back in the mid seventies that I still wear today although these would probably be superior.
Back then I worked in a 'sports shop' in London and had several pairs of these as well as the much more polarizing (Green Yellow combo) SL76.
One of the boxes came to light many years after I moved and now I get to wear them some 30 years after I actually got them...classics never go out of style although they do get a little tough around the Achilles heel pad in this case :)

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Kerry They just feel right
I've been wearing SL 72s for over 2 years now, just picked up a new pair only to change it up with new colors. These shoes are built strong and have lasted me in nasty weather, gym workouts, running, you name it. I wear these everywhere, whether for a workout or with jeans and a polo because they look great with everything. On top of that they feel perfect and fit just right, even with my wide feet they're super comfortable. You really can't go wrong with Adidas, these shoes are exceptional.

They kept the style but these aren't crafted like the original West Germany-made SL72 which had much better cushioning and arch support. Nonetheless, I can't think of a better pair of sneakers to wear with jeans. They do attract attention especially from vintage adidas fans.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Thespur Look good but feel cheap
They look great but have a feeling they won't last long with too much wear. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong. The tongue is very plasticy and quite rigid but again I hope this will soften over time. Nice light shoes for the summer.
One word of warning, and this applies to adidas shoes as a whole (I bought a pair of golf shoes and had the same issue), buy the next size up from your usual size. Otherwise your feet will be squeezed in.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by earpon Vintage??? YES PLEASE!
I was a little skeptical about getting a pair of SL-72's. What made me pull the trigger is the vintage style of this version compared to the others. Inside the shoes came with a "70's" gold stickers that really shows when the style came from.
The inner lining of the shoe looks really vintage with the old Adidas wording and trefoil logos all over. The sole and white linings of the shoe has a special chemical treatment that prevents the shoe from showing a "perfect white". There's also a small manual tagged to the shoe when you open it on how to properly care of the vintage look.
The only downside is that it is not comfortable. If you're looking for a comfortable pair, look somewhere else. This shoe is all about style, just like the 70's where bell bottom pants and the pontiac firebird was the hit. Always keep in mind that shoes made a few decades back will always be uncomfortable but the STYLE IS THERE!

Bought these a year ago.
Surprisingly durable. Sole is holding up great as is the suede.
If you want something light, neat and stylish that is tough enough to shock shock you, go for these.

My Mom wouldn't buy them for me back in the day. I was 7 and a swimmer..... (if you know what I'm saying... ;-) Well...... My sneaker freak son told me to check the web site..... WHAM! I finally got them, mom! I wear shoes, never sneakers, but had to have them! I will be wearing sneakers this spring/summer. Bought two pairs. Just in case they are discontinued... Can never get enough of a good thing..... or pretend you are 7 again....
