I really like the shoe as a whole. It has a great look that goes along with my style, but it had a few downsides for me. When I first received them I was happy as can be, but after wearing them for around 10 minutes or so I started to notice that my heels were feeling a searing pain. They were rubbing the backs of my ankles raw causing severe blistering and it didn't stop for about 3 weeks. Once they get broken in they feel fine and extremely comfortable. It's just that the break-in period takes too long. But once you are finished experiencing the break-in stage, they will probably be the best pair of shoes you've owned.

I was really looking forward to getting a pair of these again. I haven't had any since I was a teen.
I tried on a pair with the large tongue at a local sports store and found them to run about 1/2 size too small (I'm a 10-1/2 and I had to buy 11's). So I ordered some from the Adidas website with the smaller tongue. The shoes are good quality, but squeak whenever I step. They are also a lot narrower than I remembered from trying them on. one design element I really don't like is the high back part cutting into my ankle. I'd like to see them lower it a bit.
Overall: AVERAGE.
I wish they had the Rom model in my size. I would have gotten those instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 Adidas Sambas: Show of the Gods
I have been a loyal Sambas wearer for the last 9 years or so. A single pair of shoes last me a year and a half, and then I keep hold of them so I can have them as work shoes for activities such as mowing the grass or hiking in the mud. These shoes last forever, can slip on and slip off, look great, are very comfortable, and have a pretty good tread. I do a lot of walking and hiking, and I wear my Sambas through it all. I even played Tennis in my Sambas all through high school, and they were fantastic for that as well. I would not recommend running in Sambas, however; purchase actual running shoes for that. But overall, there is truly no better everyday shoe out there.

What I like best about the Sambas by Adidas is the flexibility they afford me when deciding which clothes to wear them with.I can throw on a caual pair of cargo shorts or a light or dark colored pair of jeans or khakis and the Sambas are a perfect match no matter what.The Sambas have that dressy sneaker look that appear to be a blend between a sneaker and a casual shoe ideally made for long pants.These shoes are also excellent for long walks. Very few sneakers are design to be three shoes in one.I'm a size 15, which meant I had to use the custimization option which goes up to size 21.Tried a 14 and these shoes do run true to size.I bought the white with black stripes.

These were my third pair, because pairs one and two were fantastic. Unfortunately, these squeaked so much, I stopped wearing them. Opponents could literally hear me before they saw me! The squeak comes from the tongue rubbing against the upper. I checked my older Sambas, and the upper has a felt-like layer around the lace holes that prevents the tongue from making direct contact with the leather of the upper (an easy enough fix I hope to see in future editions). Although I would not recommend the ones I bought, I will be back; Adidas' customer service was great, and sent me a return slip so I can send them back for a 100% refund. Can't ask for more that that!

I switched to Sambas because I was looking for shoe that looked sleeker than the Vans that I have been wearing for years. These shoes did not disappoint. From the moment I put them on, I felt transformed by how sharp these shoes look; they look amazing with ANY outfit (jeans, business casual, sports, etc.).
They fit true to size in all respects and when they're all laced up, fit my feet like a glove. These are truly the best shoes that I have ever bought. I even like them so much, I'm not using them for tennis as I originally intended, and instead bought a completed different shoe instead so that these stay looking nice.
In my opinion, don't hesitate, just buy.

These updated Sambas look and feel great. My old Sambas were a little narrow and the arch support did not fit quite right. The new Sambas I purchased online a couple of months ago fit perfectly. The Adi logo on the back of the heel and on the top on the tongue add a dash of style to an otherwise plain shoe. They are comfortable enough to wear everyday, but are durable enough to be worn for indoor soccer as well. I highly recommend the Sambas and would purchase them again.

I've worn many shoes from many different companies over the years but one shoe has stood above the rest. There is nothing more worthy of being on my feet than the classic styling of the Samba sneaker. The classic black with white stripe color way looks good with nearly any outfit you throw at it and it helps that these shoes are very comfortable. Though perhaps not even great products are without their cons, and there is only one here. The shoe has a tendency to squeak, although its not very audible it is noticeable to the wearer. However, the squeak is easily trumped by the iconic design, and comfort. If you're in the market for a new sneaker go ahead and buy the Samba, for me it fit true to size.

These are good looking and generally nice shoes. However, to say they are "squeaky" is an incredible understatement. These shoes SCREAM with every single step.
I wore them to work and one of my colleagues asked me if I could take them off becasue they were distracting her. I walked through a library and I thought someone was going to beat me up becasue everyone within 50 feet of me was giving me a death stare.
Honestly, it's pretty comical how loud these shoes are. It became a running joke among my friends. It's like someone strapped some live cats to my feet and they are howling in pain every time I take a step.
Luckily, I was able to solve this problem by putting some tape on the inside of the shoe where the tongue comes in contact with the rest of the shoe.

These shoes are just ok- I usually always only buy adidas exclusively because they are comfortable and cool, but these are really flat and hard to walk in for long distances, they squeak a lot and gave me a huge blister on the back of my ankle because the high part of the back of the shoe rubs A LOT. Also I usually wear a size 12 in all adidas shoes but these seem just slightly too big. I would not buy these online because I wouldn't have purchased them knowing the above problems.

I bought these shoes and they were great. However, like many other reviewers here, I found them to be quite squeaky. I am here to provide you with several solutions that will solve your problems.
The squeakiness comes from the tongue rubbing against the sides of the upper around the collar area. In order to reduce and eliminate the squeaking, we must treat this particular area of the shoe. Here are several methods that have worked for me:
1. Put some Scotch tape on the top of the tongue. The different texture of the tape means that it doesn't rub against the leather collar of the shoe, thus eliminating squeaking.
2. Rub some lotion onto the upper part of the tongue. Just take some hand lotion and rub it into the top surface of the tongue. This will moisturize the leather and reduce squeaking.
3. Rub some Vaseline into the tongue. (Same method as #2)
4. Apply a small amount of water to the tongue and wear the shoes immediately. Walk around in them to work the water into the rubber and leather of the tongue and this should solve your problem.
I hoped this helped. I have been a loyal Samba owner forever and just wanted to let everyone know that there is a fix for squeakiness!

I love the style and I love Adidas. I'm a big Campus 80s fan, but I decided to try these out for a change. However, these shoes are squeaky! It has to do with the material. I hope Adidas can fix this problem because I get annoyed of the squeakiness. I tried taping the sides to make them less squeaky, but that doesn't really help. I might try taping the whole tongue.

My last pair of Sambas were the best pair of shoes I ever owned, they surprisingly lasted me for four years. Therefore, I decided to buy a new pair, however, this pair (I bought the white ones this time) squeak loudly whenever I walk. I suppose the material they use for the white ones is different and squeak with every step. I originally thought I just had to break them in and all would be well, unfortunately that's not the case. That's the reason for the average, without the squeaks these shoes would be so much better.

For the price you can't be these if you want something simple and comfortable. I usually buy the Superstars but with them being uncomfortable out of the box I decided to try something else. These fit so much better out of the box, you don't even feel like you have to break them in. My only gripe is that the tongue tends to rub a lot making some squeaking noises, it's slowly diminishing as I wear them everyday. Hopefully it will be gone in a week or 2.
So far I prefer these over the Superstars.

I purchased the white on white Samba since my server job requires a white deck style shoe. I could only find these online, so I hoped that these Samba's would set me apart from the other staff.
I hate white shoes, they don't fair too well in the NW climate. But man, I look good in these kicks. This statement was confirmed by all the female servers coming up to me and complimenting me and asking where I got my fancy new shoes.
For my medium sized foot, they fit well, and it didn't take much more than an hour for the leather to relax and break in. I expected a little foot irritation my first day at work wearing these but I didn't even notice them on my feet. I was also impressed by the Samba's slip resistance, even with food on the floor, I was walking sure footed through the kitchen/dishpit area. A.D.I.D.A.S.

I am a woman and this is my first pair of Original Sambas. I bought these because I needed a pair of stylish, warm in the winter, weekend flats. I'm usually a women's 9, and I bought these in a men's 8. These are now my go-to weekend shoes. They are comfortable, look great with jeans and as stylish as you can get in a pair of sneakers. They fit like a glove and hug my feet. I work in finance and during the week I have to wear heels, so these shoes are my weekend oasis. I have worn them hiking in Sedona and Christmas morning chasing down my brother's escaped dog. These are not my working out sneakers, but I can move fast and run in them if I need to. I'm back buying a pair for my 88-year-old grandmother, who tried on my shoes and loved them. They offer all the arch support and comfort of her doctor recommended shoes and are 1000 times cuter.

Anywhere from a jog at the park, to a movie with friends, to getting down in your local party scene the adidas sambas got you covered! Seriously the first day i bought these i was just mesmerized and they were beyond my expectations. I wear mens slim/skinny jeans with them and its like it was meant to be. And im pretty tan so the fluroscent white goes well, and they are the best indoor soccer shoes ive ever had. Perfect first touch, and accuracy which is some of the most important elements of futbol. Simply put, Adidas Sambas are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I own 8 pairs.
I'm a waiter in a high profile restaurant and every waiter at work now wears them. They last twice longer than any shoe any of us have ever worn. I cannot recommend the enough.

My soon to be 12 yr. old daughter has been after these shoes for a while now. We went to the Adidas Outlet in Limerick, PA and they did not have her size in stock. The sales associate quickly pointed out that they could be ordered from the store and shipped directly to her. She tried on a similar pair for size purposes, we placed the order and 3 days later they arrived at the front door. She is thrilled with her decision/purchase and the fit was perfect!

I got these for my boyfriend on his birthday; he'd wanted these shoes for years and I decided to make his wish come true.
Although they are great, they're not what he thought they were - how they used to be. They're not made of leather anymore, rather - 'pleather' which makes them squeak all the time! He's had them about a week now and has worn them consistently. We're hoping that wearing them out will get rid of the squeaking.
He's wearing a 10.5 mens; they fit perfectly with a little room at the toes and, even though he's usually a wide, they fit great around the foot too.
Overall - 3/5 stars. If Adidas were to get rid of the squeaking, and maybe the rubbery feel - then they'd definitely by 5/5!

After reading that Adidas had brought back these classic trainers I had to get a pair. I always liked the retro look and sleek styling. The shoes met my expectations and more! the quality, fit and comfort can't be beat! I absolutely love them! very comfortable, look great with jeans or shorts, and have a great look, I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for great style and comfort with a strong retro vibe.I like them so much I plan to get another pair in a different color!

This is a great pair of classic Adidas. I have been wearing Sambas for years. My first pair lasted me about 15 years.This is my first pair without the extended tongue for playing soccer. They are just as comfortable and even more stylish without the high tongue. You can't go wring with a pair of Sambas. They're awesome.

I have always loved the look of sambas, I finally got them and they look and feel wonderful. When I first purchased them though, the squeaked like no other. You could hear me coming from a mile away. This was because the finish on the tongue rubbed agains the leather inside the shoe near the laces. I thought it would go away, I even took a small bit of fine sandpaper to it to speed up the process, but nothing. I fixed it by spreading hand lotion all over the tongue. Only time will tell if it's permanently fixed, but it looks like two lubrications have fixed it. I almost returned the shoe because of this problem, it squeaks REALLY LOUD and with every step. Older versions didn't do this. Also the tongue doesn't have holes in it for the laces, so they always go to the outside of my foot instead of staying in the center.

I would highly recomend these shoes they are good for lots of things such as casual, sports, (fairly) dressy and many more uses. I have just gotten these shoes and they are squeeky which was a downer since my last shoes were also squeeky, nad partially why i was getting new shoes. One of the main things I would like to see is store availibility so that you can purchase the small tounge shoes. This is what stops me from getting alot of things is: availibility. overall I would give this, a four star item.

I bought these online because I couldn't find them in white locally. I should have tried on the black ones in the stores to size myself up beforehand. I usually about a 9. But because these shoes are so narrow, I learned I needed to size up. They were also quite short in length for a 9. The 9-1/2 fits perfecly. Especially after having put some shoes trees in them for a couple days.
The squeek is real, but I've had other shoes with the same problem. Vaseline works brilliantly. Just wipe some on the left and right side of the tongues with your finger and problem gone. So if you're worried about these because of a squeek, don't.
These aren't shoes you're going to run a marathon in. They're not uncomfortable but I can't see myself trying to run in them. I wear them just for the casual style with jeans or chords.
After having said that, I think they're a little expensive for what they are. But the sole and how it attaches to the show is durable and it's better than a lot of other shoes out there.

Those are very well made.
I had shoes for over $100 that came apart after year and $65 Samba are still intact after 2 years. Nothing came apart even when I was doing a lot of walking in rough conditions. Gonna get a pair because the bottom sole wore out.
They only squeak when they are new

Look awesome, feel awesome, but dang do the squeak! It doesn't matter to me though, they're the best shoes I've ever bought. And I'll be buying many more in the future. They run a tad small, but still fit my wide feet great.

My boyfriend and I were so happy with this purchase! We compared it with my black sambas, which I bought about 9 years ago. They still hold that classic adidas look! He says they are incredibly comfortable, the fit is perfect, and the look is clean. He has already received so many compliments. He also liked this version of the sambas, rather than the original classic samba since the tongue of the shoe is much smaller.

I work as a certified nurse's aide at a hospital and nursing home. Needless to say, I'm on my feet a lot. Wearing the Sambas for their first shift at the hospital, I had no pain during the 12 hours of work. My old shoes took nearly two weeks to "break in" and become comfortable. It was a relief not having to experience those same pains with these shoes.
The tread on the sole are an added benefit for slippery floors that could pose as a fall risk as the Sambas catch and hold on any surface.
I recommend these shoes to anyone that works on their feet.

I skate (mainly downhill racing, with some park/bowl riding) and these things are a godsend. The soles are practically invincible, which makes them perfect for racing as the sole is always the first thing to go. The seams on the toes aren't well placed for ollieing and whatnot, but a good dose of shoeglue can fix that. I have very wide feet so they're uncomfortable at first but they pack out nicely.
I'm on my third pair now, and I'll be buying them until the day I die.

These shoes are great. They're comfortable, easy to wear, and of great quality. However, they are also incredibly squeaky. I've found that when the tongue rubs up against the rest of the shoe (which is basically whenever you're walking) it makes a noticeable squeaking noise. I've had these for 6 months and it's still happening. While they're great shoes overall, this one flaw keeps them from being 5 stars.

They're grrrrreat! What everyone else says is true, they squeak (like a Chihuahua being stepped on)...but the best advice I heard is just rub a drop of spit or water inside the tongue of the shoe when your putting them on and they won't squeak all day. The toungue is made of foam or something instead of leather, that's why it happens. Otherwise, they are super comfortable and look great and sporty. Huzzah!

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. I am a size 12 so I ordered 12's, knowing that I'd be using inserts, so they were a little snug at first, but they fit well after breaking them in. The one problem I have with them is the squeakiness! I had read all of the reviews that mentioned this but I was somewhat skeptical, however now I see what everyone was referring to. It is not a major deal, the squeak is really only noticeable when you're in a somewhat quiet environment. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with them.

i bought these shoes because i thought they looked so cool! but the first three days i wore them, they were squeaking like MAD!! i would be in school and it would be completeley quiet, then the only thing you would hear is my shoes squeaking when i walked...also i have a bottom locker so whenever i bent down to get my binders, the shoes seemed a little stiff and non flexible. they are kinda hard to run in -ish too. but otherwise i like the cool sleek style and i thought they were pretty cool, but i would recommend the samba classics instead

These shoes are by far some of the best I own. I've always wanted Sambas but never liked the long tongue, so these are perfect for me. These shoes are great for EVERYTHING. They are very comfortable. The one thing that I don't like about them is that they make a very annoying squeaking sound. I solved this by putting masking tape on the leather part that the tongue is rubbing against.

Got the sambas in white with green stripes, and just within days had quite a bit of compliments from friends and strangers about how good they look. These are probably the best looking shoes I got. I've had sambas before in the traditional black and white, and the comfort and all is the same. It's the design that makes the shoe awesome, and these shoes are awesome.

These have to be the best pair of shoes I have ever worn. Yes, they do squeak when you first wear them, but that can easily be fixed: some tape or wax applied around the tongue fixes the problem. Very durable, they look great on the street or on a soccer field.They behave well in snow, rain, and sun. The simple, iconic design sets the Samba apart from other shoes.

These are probably the best shoes that I have ever owned. This is my second pair and I have to say that they are great. They are comfortable, good looking, and work great for soccer. The only, and I mean only, bad part is that they are quite squeaky at first, but that goes away. Overall, awesome shoes.

And now that I live in Austin TX the selections are limited so I am either bringing my new kicks back from a trip back to NY or this time I ordered on line. My new sneaks came on time as promised VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER
My only complaint is one of my new kicks one one of the pairs I ordered is extremely squeaky.

I agree at first if you wear these sambas your heel will hurt because of the leather in the back and start to bleed if you wear them with no/low cut socks. But after you wear them in or even with socks these shoes are definetely comfortable. Classic style and good looks, recommend in getting these shoes overall.

If you like the classic samba that has the long tongue, then you love these too. There are pretty much the same minus the long tongue. I played soccer and the long tongue was good for a sweet spot, but now that I am older and just wear for casual these are much nicer looking casual shoe.

I love the style of these shoes but they have a rather annoying breaking in period...because they squeak when you walk. Squeak, speak, speak...every step...squeak, squeak, squeak. It lasts for what feels like forever. A few weeks at the very least but they look cool while doing it.

Got my first pair 3 months ago and had to return it to Adidas for refund.
They are very comfortable and look very good with jeans, however, their quality is very poor.
Perhaps, I received a defective pair.
I love this style and I am thinking of getting a new pair

I like these shoes only one complaint; they squeak when you walk. because the tongue rubs against the inside of the shoe. I kept thinking they would break in but no luck. I ended up having to put a small pad on the inside on each side of the tongue. Once I fixed the squeak they were good.

I love the shoes except for one thing! They squeak when I walk. It is not the bottom of the shoes but it is the tounge of the shoes. It rubs and makes noise when I walk. Not really use to this but maybe with time they will stop making the noise.

Great shoe...especially without the super long tongue. They are pretty squeaky out of the box, due to the tongue rubbing the interior leather. A few pieces of electrical tape fixed that. Overall, I'm very pleased.

I replaced a pair I had for 10 years with these. I don't remember them being so squeaky. I mean it was embarrassing how loud they are. Look great but sound terrible!

I love sambas i have been buying them for 10 years but i must say this model is the worst. first the back lip is to high, if you wear low cut socks it will rub the back of your ankle raw, possibly till they bleed..... second THEY ARE VERY VERY SQUEAKY!!!!! for at least a month of wearing them everyday. I would recommend waiting till Adidas comes out with the next version of the samba and then buying those hopefully they are better.....

These are great shoes if you are playing in any indoor league. It is really comfortable and I bought another pair to wear to school. They are good shoes and I would recommend them.

I never knew Adidas made the Samba with mostly white with black stripes. 15 years ago I used to buy the black with white stripes. I am really liking these shoes.

The shoes are rather squeaky. I tried sanding the inside with a fine grit sandpaper and it did not help much. Maybe with a coarser grit it would work. What has worked is putting a small amount of masking tape on each side at the top of the laces. Also the shoes are about a half size small. I usually wear a 11.5; in these a 12 fits perfectly. Although I've been a little negative, I really like these shoes a lot. I wear them all day every day, and they are very comfortable.

I really like the look of these shoes, but the tongue squeaks like crazy every time I take a step, like a lot of the other reviewers have noted. Not sure if this is the case with the Sambas with the longer tongue, but this is a really bad design mistake. Come on adidas, you can do better than this! Hopefully it goes away in time because I unfortunately threw out the receipt.

This was a great purchase experience for me! Things are expensive here in Hawaii, and I got the original sambas with shipping cheaper than any retail stores on island.
Shipping speed was really fast, I had my shoes in less than a week.
And as always the Samba is just as high quality as I remember! After a few minutes of hopping around and loosening them up I was ready for a match!!

I bought these shoes for myself even though they are mens shoes, because I couldn't find anything so timeless and classic in the women's shoes. I needed to have some comfortable, casual, stylish shoes I could wear on the weekends. These shoes are great. I got them in white with black stripes and they look great with my regular length jeans. The only thing is I will avoid wearing them when it rains or snows because they are so pretty, I don't want to get them dirty!

I have bought a few different styles of sambas over the years. I really love these shoes now that I have broken them in. The only reason I did not give the shoes a 5 star rating is that they squeaked like mad for a long time before they wore in. They were so loud I was embarrassed to wear them until they wore in. I have the white ones with black stripes. I always struggle with suede looking manky too quickly. I will likely get the the all leather ones next time.

I've owned several pairs of the Samba K's and some other versions with the large tongue.
These new ones are not bad, I do like the shorter tongue, however the edges of the tongue and the inside of the part of the shoe where the first loop is, are made out of the same material and squeak fairly loud and very easily. I wouldn't even be walking and the shoes would squeek from the rubbing in that area. I had to remedy the squeeking with some tape on both parts that rubbed, I imagine it will go away in time with wear but they're pretty distracting in the time when its still making noise.
I recall the old Samba's had a bit more support on the inside arc of the foot, the new ones don't seem to have that same firmness. Not a huge deal for me personally but something I noticed.
So far they seem just as durable as the classic Sambas.

I bought these shoes in July of 2010 and I am still using them. In October of 2010 my foot/ankle got ran over by a car. (it was very painful) but my doctor said if I wasn't wearing these shoes I would have broken my Achilles!! I love these shoes they are sooo extremely comfortable and fashionable and I'm still wearing them! I'm going to buy new ones soon just cause they are starting to get to small but trust me you will never buy another pair of shoes again!
