Rated 1 out of 5 by Crazy Heavy Have been looking forward to having these released for over a year now. Finally picked up and pair and they are heavy (I actually weighed them and they are over a 1lb per shoe, which is insane and about 2x the weight of the previous version). I tried them on and felt like I had ankle weights. Hoping there was a production issue, but these are going back. April 1, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by 500+ gram shoe I've owned these shoes since the 90s, they are my favorite shoes outside of the Gazelle and Samba. The upper seems to have changed for the better since the last pair I bought in 2011, but these latest are super heavy - heavier than my all leather version. Another pair bought in 2012 just fell apart - upper was super stiff, plastic-y sole and the painted sole just flaked everywhere. Somewhere around 2008 was the last great pair I bought. These two pair are going to be returned. April 3, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Way Heavy I bought a pair of these today at the Adidas store in Chicago. As soon as I lifted them out of the box I commented to my girlfriend that they felt real heavy. I went ahead and bought them anyways because I liked the style and thought it could be a nice shoe for the summer. I have had the Stan Smith's before but never the Lavers. After wearing them around the house for a few hours I am considering taking them back. Just way to heavy for the amount of walking I do. A pound on each foot is going to add up after walking a mile or two. Shoes run large. I usually wear a 11 but had to go with the 10. April 12, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by something is wrong I have been waiting for these shoes to be offered again as I have been wearing them for years. I ordered two pairs in the same size as my old pair. The new shoes were at least 1/2 a size bigger and maybe a full size, and were very heavy. Nothing like my old pairs. I have returned them and do not want to get another size as the new increased weight is uncomfortable. Too bad, I really liked the old shoes. April 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Rod Laver I love Rod Laver shoes but am very disappointed in the new outsole as you can immediately tell they are heavier. The old outsole was much lighter and softer-which helped make the Laver shoes special. They were so light weight they felt like slippers. The softness is gone too. They still have the classic look but for those that wore them know that is only part of the attractiveness of the shoe. April 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by You Should Never, Not Produce This Shoe I have been wearing Rod Laver shoes for.. forever. And even a moments unavailability can be cause for a severe anxiety attack. For those who have never experienced this shoe, buy now! Buy often! Thank you April 4, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed in new style Been wearing Rod Lavers for 15 years and am very disappointed in the new redesigned model. The shoe is much heavier and bulky than before. Sizing runs Big as well. I have always worn an 11.5, and the new style size 11.5 is too big. Hoping they go back to the old style because this is not the Laver we all know and love April 14, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Heavy, Stiff, Uncomfortable...not the same I have been wearing Rod Lavers for many years. I have waited almost a year to reorder what were my favorite sneakers. As well, there were my go to summer shoes for casual wear in the office and for wearing around the house while doing chores and running errands. They finally arrived and I was greatly disappointed with them. They even looked "clunky" when I opened the box upon first glance. I spent a great deal of time comparing them to the 2 pair I had purchased in the past. They look bigger and fit higher on my foot. But worse is the overall fit and feel. They are heavy and uncomfortable. The soles are stiff and hard. Every attribute to me has been removed. A let down after waiting so long for these new replacements. Unfortunately, I will have to look for a replacement for this my favorite and most comfortable footwear. April 15, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not the same This is about the tenth pair of laver's I've purchased and they are not the same. HEAVY! Immediately when I took them out of the box I noticed the weight and then compared them to an old pair I own. Also, the stitching on the side appears somewhat different. Not sure if these are a defect or poorly manufactured. Disappointed! April 5, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Bring it back Always wear this shoes but new release just different, too large heavy and not confortable. Good i didnt through away my old one because i had to return the new one April 16, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by HEAVY! I've been wearing these shoes forever. probably have bought 50 pairs over the last 15 years. something happened with this latest iteration though, they weigh about 4X (guessing here, but it is a BIG difference) what they have in the past. a big reason I've been wearing these for so long was their light weight. not sure what's changed in the manufacturing process, but they used to be a lot better. Rated 2 out of 5 by Way Too Heavy I've been waiting a year for these to come back on the market. This is my third pair of Lavers. These newly updated Lavers are too heavy. It's a noticeable difference as soon as you take them out of the box. I still love the look of them, but I can't get used to the extra weight. I would return them and get a pair of Stan Smiths, but I've already worn them outside the house. April 11, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Second Pair I am a size 10 woman shoe and the size 8 men's shoe is a perfect fit. I brought the navy blue trim last year and had to search to fine this shoe again. I was glad to see you can still perchase from Adidas website. Love this shoe! April 6, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by new lavers are not good why did you change the sole??? the old lavers were beloved because they were cool and comfortable. pls change back asap. April 13, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Used to be awesome, now HEAVY AS A BRICK I've been wearing this shoe for 15+ years, since I was in middle school. It has a classic design, and WAS very comfortable and lightweight. This version "re-introduced" in May 2014 are HEAVY AS A BRICK. They are very very heavy because Adidas has replaced what was a lightweight (and very durable) polyurethane sole with a full outer and inner pivot point rubber sole. This is extremely disappointing. I understand the need to update the shoe in small ways so they don't become played out (like Chuck Taylors for example), but why make them HEAVY? They are not as comfortable. I used to wear mine with the laces loose. Can't do that anymore without cloppity clop clopping around. I liked how the polyurethane sole was SLICK when new on carpet, like a classy dress shoe. These rubber soles are sticky and annoying. If Adidas wanted to update the Rod Laver, they should have make a SUPER LIGHT 'crazyquick' model with even lighter material for the sole. That would have been dope. This unfortunately is not, it is extremely disappointing. Don't order these expecting the "good 'ol rod laver" - they have changed significantly... for the worse. Please Adidas - give us back the lightweight rods! April 11, 2014
