This shoe is interesting. It looks great in pictures but in reality, the material on the toe box - that reverse-studded neoprene - looks cheap in person. This shoe's sole is very comfortable BUT it is a bit narrow for a size 9 (what I normally wear). It also has terrible breathability. Upon closer inspection, some of the the dimples on the polyester are actual perforations but the majority are not. This shoe becomes an oven very quickly. The material on the back of the shoe (the white) is very nice. Overall, shoe is disappointing since it looks and feels worse than what I'd expect from adidas.
Let me begin by saying I love these shoes. I've had them for a week and have used them every day for high bar squats. I have poor ankle mobility due to an old fractured tibia that still has a plate and screws in place, yet the heel lift in the AdiPowers help me keep an upright posture which in turn has eliminated my low back pain. I have gone from a wide hip dominant low bar squat to a narrower stance high bar squat that is more quad dominant. I'm not big on style but they look and fit great! The Velcro strap sets very secure and the tongue doesn't slide down the inside. I wear only for squats so I can't say if they help or are comfortable for other lifts.
Narrow fit but comfortable stride. I usually wear a 9.5 US in Adidas Originals but my Ultra boost were a bit too big in 9.5 so I chose 9 in these but they were pretty tight and my toe was too close for comfort to the tip of shoe. I have returned them for a 9.5 and fit is much better. They synthetic materials look cool juxtaposed together. I am going to do some HIT workouts and see how they stand up.
I had to use men's sizing because I am a large women's size that most don't carry (12). I ordered a 10.5 and an 11. I went with the smaller size, they are a little big but the 10s would have been too small. Quality is excellent. I use these for squats only and they are perfect, my feet don't budge when I squat. Best purchase ever.
This is my second pair of these lifters. Adidas has always fit my foot well and I have never had quality issues. And I love that I was able to get these customized with my name on the heel. Even with the customization they arrived in s week !!
This is a great looking shoe and comfortable, although I have flatfoot I think my toes receive a little bit of pressure when I walk.. Thats normal I guess. Only con I see is that the outsole material doesn't look sturdy for everyday walk on the streets and in rough surfaces but good for gym floors so I think outsole wont last more than a year...
I've always use flat shoes to squat and decided to get these powerlifting shoes since now I'm starting to squat heavier. It's a great investment if you're looking to make gainz. Make sure to buy half a size down then your regular size.
Uncomfortable. Tongue is not padded all the way up and you feel the instep strap pressing against your foot when the ankle is fully flexed. The tongue is made from a plastic mesh and has neoprene padding underneath. The neoprene padding does not extend all the way up the tongue. So there is no padding where the edge of the instep strap meets the top of your foot. The lace system is lousy. Aside from the tongue and laces it does the job but I'm not satisfied with the $$ i spent.
A few other people mentioned running small, but I felt they were more than 1/2 size too small. I wear a 13, regular in all my other shoes and they fit fine. I got a 14 in the ZG Trainer and it is still a little too small. The length is about right, but with the narrow width I wish I could have ordered a 14.5 or 15. Overall comfort is excellent and shoe quality seems really good. Adidas just needs to figure out sizing and these would be 5 star.
The shoes are great for indoor gym types of workouts, you can still feel the boost technology not as much as the ultra boost but just enough to allow you to move quickly. The only this I wish they had was additional selections of colors.
First ever weightlifting shoe and it definitely makes a difference. Great all-round shoe, expect it to last a while. I take womens size 7 in a normal shoe so I bought mens size 5 and that was spot on - people say to go 1 to 1.5 sizes smaller but that would've been too big for me.
Nice Shoes. In the beginning I wasn't sure on the sizing. I tried on a pair of Adidas running shoes and ordered off of that. First putting them on it was tight and I did not think they were the right size. After lacing them up and strapping in they felt great. They were comfortable and fit perfct. Lifting: Awesome. During squats I felt like my feet were in conrete and stable. Helped me squat a little deeper, it felt comfortable and stable. Would highly recomend.
So I have been training in running shoes for years. This is my first pair of trainers and I love them. I am a trainer and member at Title Boxing Club and they really help with lateral movement and stability. The boost material is great and the soles are super sticky. I understand the need for the straps on the sides, but after a couple hours of hard training, they did dig the sides of my feet a bit. One to two hour sessions are fine, but if you wear them for more than that or for casual wear you may find a little discomfort. Not sure if they are worth the 40 buck upgrade from the regular ZG trainers but, that being said, they look great, are super bouncy, help with movement and speed. Great job Adidas
I bought these thinking they would be alright for my gym workouts and light running. I bought these thinking the fit would be there, as the usual quality of shoe I've come to expect however what I got was something else. These kick butt! Seriously! I have not taken them off! The fir is snug so if you have wide feet, buyer beware. The side supports are perfectly cinching so I get good movement. No slippage. The neoprene had me nervous but it paid off because it fits my foot perfectly! Well done to the bad boys of Adidas on this one!
I've only had a few work outs in them but so far they are fitting and working great. No issues with manufacture can be found, no loose threads or mis-aligned parts. I wear a US 11D and these fit me very well. As you expect, these are Very Supportive from heal to ball of foot but do allow comfortable flex at the ball of the foot for OLY lifting.
After having worn these for about a year I cannot imagine anything else being better. At the very least the bar has been set pretty high. The stability with these shoes when catching weight is second to none.
My husband really likes these shoes. He was weightlifting with his crossfit sneakers and he says that they make a big, big difference. He definitely recommends them and says that he would buy another pair in a different color
Awesome shoe, but these run 1/2 size small, this was confirmed by an adidas rep after I bought them so thankfully adidas.com has free returns! Can't wait for my new shoes to arrive! Light, but supportive and they look good!
Bought these shoes as my first weightlifting shoe. Thought I had made a good pick considering they felt great when I trained. Problem is literally one month after I started wearing them, the plastic part in the heel of one of the shoes got a crack in it. Overall, had potential to be a great weightlifting shoe, but apparently the quality just isn't there. Disappointed.
I have had two pairs of these shoes (white and black and the red and black) in the past 14 months. With both pairs the torsion system cracked which led me to place a quality claim the first time. I was given a gift card to purchase the red and black ones no questions asked which was nice. I am now in the process of doing the same thing with the red and black ones. These ones lasted a little bit longer than the first pair, but not by much. It doesn't seem like too many people have had this issue but I do advise any avid weightlifter to check there torsion system on a regular basis. I do not do anything out of the ordinary for what these shoes are designed for. I train 4-6 times a week and compete on a regular basis. I understand these may be cheaper to manufacture compared to the 2008 ADISTAR with the wooden sole but those shoes were a far superior product compared to the new style. Even if the wooden sole shoes were a bit more expensive I would pay for them! Trust me when I say the die hard weightlifters would also pay a little more for something close to the old style. Please take this into serious consideration!
I bought the shoes based on the more expensive have to be better but not the case in these. Withing a couple weeks the stitching in the tongue was coming apart and the piping was coming apart. It was probably a bad set of shoes but for the price made me leary of trying another set.
I bought these shoes for squats primarily. Like many reviews have previously stated, these shoes make you feel glued to the ground and really provide a stable base for squats. It's really quite impressive how much better my stance feels. They fit great and provide the support I was after. They are a little uncomfortable to walk it but if you need them for olympic lifts only, they should work great. Definitely the right buy.
I got these shoes to help with performing the Olympic lifts and help place me in the right position when squatting due to lack of mobility. They have tremendously helped in these areas and they also feel great on my feet. I highly recommend these shoes.
As anyone looking at these shoes already knows, they are the gold standard for weightlifting. Use confirms this, more comfortable than other shoes in a similar price range with exceptional grip and stability. No hang ups as far as I am concerned. Will buy again (in ~10 years when these wear out). If you live near an employee store and can get a pass, $100 is an absolute steal for the quality of these shoes.
I was debating getting these or the Romaleos but i'm glad I got these. They were a little tight at first but after a couple of lifts my foot settled in the shoe. It is a snug fit but comfortable. I was using Reebook crossfit Lifters and these are so much better. I don't have a wide foot so these were perfect due to the narrow width. My feet are defiantly nailed to the floor with these.
