I have been Yonex tennis shoes fan for sometime, but i got to try Adidas Boost Tennis shoes. It' been 4 weeks now, and these shoes have been amazing. Immediately, the difference in bounce in the stride was evident, improving the movement on the court right away. For a 45 year guy, the wear and tear on the court can take its toll, but this shoe does seem to be cut above the rest. Five stars for the shoes till now! I will update on the durability, a couple of months down the line.
Glad to finally have found great Adidas tennis shoes as none are sold in our area! My feet and legs missed them badly. Since I work on my feet I am relieved to have true comfort and support between me and the hard floor!
Fantastic! super feel, great court grip, tremendous lateral support, snug as a bug as far as cushioning, comfort and insole support are concerned and to top it all off, they look great as well. Look heavier than they actually are. The forward sloping design helps with easier push offs for the explosive movement on the tennis court. Great colour and design combination. Super durable. Definitely one to try out. Simply sublime. I just hope they don't discontinue it.
I play competitive Table Tennis twice a week and the barricade shoe is as good as my previously butterfly energy force shoe. The barricade is slightly heavier than my table tennis shoes but great looking shoe.
Have been buying Barricades for my child since he was 5 years old. He finds it an ideal balance between comfort and support. It's so well constructed that it still looks new even after he has outgrown them. Best tennis shoe on the market.
Barricade 9 is an improvement on Barricade 8. It is also lighter and softer across the front from the Barricade 7 (which was a better shoe than the 8, which was too soft). Arch support and ankle support is impeccable. Little break in required.
These shoes were comfortable right away (didn't feel like they needed wearing in) due to the soft inner cushion and provided good grip for increased stability around the court. Looking forward to getting back out onto the court with them!
Uppers are more comfortable with snug fit, lighter than previous versions. The annoying issue with the top eyelet digging into your ankle on the 8's has been sorted. The shoe has the same great stability & traction as with all the barricades I have used. I'm not yet sure whether I like how the mid foot area fits - which is slightly narrower than the 8's. Would advise trying these on before buying as the fit is different.
Purchased a pair of the 2015 model in Black/Red. Normal size is 10 and they were a little shorter than previous Barricades in 10. New colors out so I ordered Navy in 10 1/2, pefect fit but decided to return for the new Black with White stipes. Same size 10 1/2 but now too long. Tough tonkeep ordering shoes when the sizes ate inconsistent
love these shoes! extremely good on the courts! flawless tennis shoes. i cant wait to see other upgrades that they add to it. like the new boost that i have yet to purchase. highly recommend these sneakers!!!
First of all, I have two problems with most shoes: heel slippage as my heel is narrow, and sometimes pain in the inside part of the toe due to some kind of weird shape my feet have. For this shoe, no problem on the toe at all, they are comfortable quite quickly out of the box. For the heel, the problem is that I tried 2 sizes (8.5 and 9), 8.5 being a bit tight in the toe box, 9 having heel slippage despite the nice heel grip inside the shoe. Other than that the shoe is comfy, nice arch support, and lighter to wear than I thought. I would not say it is the ideal shoe for me, but it is worth a try. For me they are way better than other brands I tried (and I tried many...)
This Barricade is an excellent shoe but is built slightly different to previous versions (obviously!). I found that the 2015 version has more room in the forefoot and is slightly narrower. The "roomier" front was a little worry before play but after a few sets all you notice is that this shoe is definitely built for the job and provides excellent support. Looking forward to getting back on court with them soon....
Trust me when I say this, I have a lot of adidas tennis shoes. I am a big fan of the barricade and have recently been sporting the barricade 9 which I think is a great shoe. Recently I got the chance to test out the new Ubersonic, I have tried a couple of Adizero shoes in the past but often found them feeling either cheap or uncomfortable. Firstly, I was keen to try this particular model because I think it looks great. In all black with a red sole these shoes look like they mean business, a stealth bomber disguised as a tennis shoe. The profile of the shoe also boosts it's aesthetics, the guys at adidas told me this has been build on a running last thus giving the unbersonic a sleek and speedy look. The subtle 3 stripe branding on the side and adidas logo on the heel all add to the shoes look. It's not showy, it's 'I am going to sneak on on court, cause you problems, and then disappear before you even know who or what happened' and I love that! So, how does the Ubersonic perform? I haven't been harping on about the looks just because I am image concious, although we do all like to look good on court. However I think the performance of this shoe is actually based around the sleek and speedy look of it. The shoe feels planted, you feel low to the ground and ready to pounce, or dance if that's more your thing. My best analogy is that this this is an F1 car, and your the driver sat low and close to the floor. It defiantly does feel a little like a running shoe for tennis, and maybe that's what adidas had in mind. This shoe is supposed to be about speed and I certainly feel quicker around the court in this vs a barricade. Don't worry when I say running shoe, this still has good lateral support which is set toward the mid and rear of the shoe in the form of a reforced polymer band in which the laces loop through and lock you down. Adidas has informed me they have moved toward mid/rear foot support to help give more flexibly/agility in the forefoot, and this certainly delivers. Grip wise, at first they felt all over the show, I think with any new pair you need to take a thin layer of rubber off before they becoming sticky. After a few matches I feel I have a perfect balance between grip and the ability to slide a little on a hard court. A number of people often pick a tennis shoe based on durability, for me it's not really on my list of requirements, I go for comfort first, how it's feels, how it looks and then will it last. I am not best placed to comment on the durability having only worn the shoe for a couple of weeks. So far so good, I have been playing hard and pushing the shoe, there is a thick layer of rubber around the toe box for abrasion protection and mine still look close to new despite me sliding around the court. I am guessing the outsole will last as adidas have used the industry standard in durability, their adiwear6 rubber. Inside the shoe there is an internal sock and sharks tooth lining (that's what I call it) basically it grips the sock to stop your foot sliding around. I think adidas have really upped their game in the comfort category with this shoe and the most recent barricade, so we'll done adidas! I have given this shoe 5 stars, I think it's possibly one of the best shoes on the market aimed at a serious player with a fast game and I can't wait to put them on my feet again. Finally, word of advice, I am usually a UK 10, however the 10.5 fits me perfect. Thanks.
It’s the second pair of the Barricade 9 I bought. The first one is white where I know went for the purple one. The colour of the white ones started to peel off on one side only a few weeks after I bought them. The 6 month outsole warranty is some kind of pointless. You will only get the shoe replaced once the outer sole is completely gone – basically once you have a hole in the shoe. If you are not playing a lot you will not wear it off. If you are playing a lot and you are serious about the shoes you will replace the shoes once the profile is worn – which is before you have a hole in the shoes. I’ve got the white ones for 5 month now and would have replaced them about a month ago. But I’m now wearing them off to get them replaced. Having said the above the shoe is great and no one else gives you the outer sole warranty anyway. It’s very stable – as all barricades – still light and comfortable. Although I still like the looks of the barricade 7 the best I’d by the 2015 again.
Thought I'd treat myself to a pair of high end tennis shoes as they were half price. Seem very good quality and I enjoy playing in them. Only thing I noticed is they are quite a bit tighter than all my other Adidas tennis shoes of the same size.
This is the third pair of Barricades and overall I really love these shoes. However my latest pair do not seem to be wearing very well. The chrome colour and adidas emblem has started coming off the side off the shoes and I have only had them for a month.
When I first got the shoes out of the box and tried them on, they felt tight, and I thought I would have to return them and get half a size or full size up. But this dissipated really quickly, I did a bit of twisting in every direction and just wearing round house, and I must say these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Heaps of supports, heaps of cushioning, I love playing tennis in them. I'm trying to wear them out within 6 months to get a free pair, but they are seriously bullet proof. I play tennis 3-4 times per week on hard court, they and I'm now thinking it will be very difficult to wear them down. My children made fun of me for having purple shoes, I still say they look blue, doesn't matter what colour they are to me, they are amazing tennis shoes. They arrived really quickly, literally 2-3 days after purchase. Great service and great shoes. Will be buying again, or the next updated model.
Firstly, I've only used these shoes twice so although they seem great now, I can't comment in the long-term. I've used barricades for many years and although these aren't visually up to the quality of previous versions, in terms of fit, comfort and support they are.
I have to admit, I dont play tennis. But I do run and the Adidas shoes I have owned in the past are put together very well. Eventually the old running shoes become my beat up walking and errand shoes. But not this time. I treated myself to this good looking shoe and I have to say they are built like a tank. A little stiff, but no pain. I did replace the insoles on all my running shoes with an aftermarket insole and I did so with these shoes too. They look good and feel good on my feet. All I need now are the tennis lessons.
When I ordered the shoes at Christmas, I thought the bits that are actually silver were light grey. I have since received vulgar abuse for their vulgar styling. I don't know if the circular patterning has any function, but with 6 months play (usually on artificial clay), the discoloration makes it look as though my feet have some fungal infection If the Adidas shop in Manchester had been open still, I wouldn't have had to rely on a photo on a web site
So at first, I wasn't impressed with this shoe due to the slipping of the heel at the back, but as soon as I got used to the shoe and wore a couple of extra pairs of socks, this shoe is brilliant, would recommend! Matt, uk
The Barricade 5 Classic is a fairly heavy and stiff shoe, but loosens up pretty quickly. The best part is - they take a serious beating in stride. After many many uses, they are just as protective and supportive as on day 1. Just like every other tennis shoe, though, the right toe goes long before the rest of the shoe is worn out. I'm still yearning for some kind of "tough-toe" technology.
Just got this shoes today, and played tennis with it one hour ago. and I have to say that my size is US10, 1.83m height,I found out that the shoes isnt uncomfortable, heavy, it is perfect shoes to me now!
I have purchased team 4 recently and found I move very comfortably on the court. My serve and volley become more efficient as the acceleration and stopping of forward movement are easier. Great stuff. Edward
There are some changes to this new line of Barricade tennis shoes; softer upper shell means less break-in time and new look. For me, they did hurt the inside of my ankle for a while for some time. They are a bit narrow which are fine for my feet. My size is usually 11.5 but for barricades I sometimes go up half a size and got a 12. They look good too. I'm not sure about those circles though, but I guess they have to be there. Regarding performance, they are as good as it gets for a tennis shoe. I can say they are like a combination of Barridcade 7 and adizero feather 3 shoes. Easy on changing direction (the silver part is there to hold and brace the foot when changing directions), no slipping, hugs the foot, light and they feel low to the ground too, like a speed shoe.
