I received these Holtanna II's 4 days ago. Thus far, I have hiked 29 miles in these boots. The first thing which impressed me was the rugged design and excellent craftsmanship. They appear bulletproof. My feed are a bit wide; when given the choice I usually order size 11-E. Since adidas doesn't give width options, I ordered size 11-1/2. I hike from my mountain home in Western Washington, where the terrain is steep, rocky, muddy, and wet; typically I slog through streams running down the trails. On the first wearing the uppers were a bit stiff, but the soles felt like I was walking on a cushion of air. My feet have never been so comfortable on a hike. I returned home with my feet perfectly warm and dry. After the first wearing, I treated the leather portion of the uppers with two applications of neatsfoot oil. The oil darkens leather, but I treat all of my leather products with neatsfoot oil to enhance the waterproofing and give longevity to the leather. After using the neatsfoot oil, the uppers became perfectly supple, and the boots fit my feet like a favorite pair of gloves. I am very impressed and would buy these again in a heartbeat, although judging from the excellent construction, these are going to last me a long time!
I am falling in love with these bad boys more and more. The first time out, I thought, maybe too stiff of a tongue, not sure of the lace system... But they are AWESOME! So, come time 3,4,5 out on the trails, scree, rivers, pavement, these shoes have not disappointed at all. Full-day 15 milers to river walks with the dogs, these shoes rock. My friends are jealous. I don't know about the technology and never read the tags. All I know is light, fast, grippy, waterproof, styley, stable, comfy. Get a pair! -Joel Aspen, CO
I have a narrow foot with a high arch and have tried many many hiking boots and shoes over the decades. I bought the Swift R trail shoes when my hiking boots got left behind on a gorge hiking trip. The Swift Rs had to perform right out of the box to save the trip and I was not disappointed. I use them to day hike, trail run and around town - they're great!
Adidas outdoor gear are great for winter weather when you don't want those heavy boots, try Adidas outdoor Terrex Solo. There are light and extremely comfortable with Ortho lite cushioned insoles. With a few pair of socks on they are much more comfortable than boots, but much more mobility. The best part is they have tread like soles and no falling on snow and ice. Great job Adidas!!! I ready for my second pair !!!!! Oh yeah waterproof too!!!!
these shoes fit me perfect. Very stable, no stretching. I have had them almost a year and worn them part of almost every day. I wear them a lot on the golf course especially when the course is damp. The only complaints it they are leaking now and sole came loose at the heel. I glued the sole back so no issue there. I have washed the shoes in a washer a few times so maybe that explains the leaks. Overall, I think I am going to order another pair based on fit and stability. PS, I would have tried to return these but I have misplaced my receipt. They really do not show much wear.
Not a big hiker so not much use for a primarily hiking shoe for me. Pleasantly surprised with them in normal use, maybe will also use them for indoor football. Feel comfortable and look great for normal use. Did some running atop a mountain in rain and didn't slip once.
I have owned these shoes for about 3 months, and I think they are great shoes. They are lightweight, offer very firm support for hiking, boast the GoreTex waterproof fabric, and look very cool. I purchased these shoes for hiking in the California foothills and for fishing for bass from shore in local reservoirs. For fishing, it is essential that the shoes be waterproof, and they seem to be fine in that department (although I have yet to get them thoroughly soaked). GoreTex is the only material I trust for this purpose, which these shoes have. The terrain I hike/fish on has many rocks, pebbles, and right up to wet boulders, so the sole of my shoes must have excellent traction. These shoes deliver that much needed traction. Overall, very comfortable, very modern "tactical" look, and I highly recommend them.
I am so excited about these shoes. The shoes FIT like a dream. My foot width is Normal. I got them for running the mountains. Stability and support is EXCELLENT! Traction on mud and rocks is Very Good! They feel so good, I wear them everywhere. My feet stay dry and cozy. They look great, too!
These are awesome. Very liteweight and durable.Best of all, its WATERPROOF. And yes, my feet stay dry. I do a whole lot of walking and these have won me over. Only problem is they dont come in wide widths. I guess they all are just one standard width. Find that really odd.But these are perfect for summer. Cant wait to find them on sale at one of the online shoe places.Or here also. Hint Hint put them on sale.
Had this for 2 months now and I like it! When it rains I don't get soaking wet and that's a big plus for me. The only problem is that it runs slightly big I'm 5'7 with an average body and a M is a bit big, I recommend sizing down a bit. As far as quality goes I must say it's good, I was hit by a car while riding my bike and fell to the floor and I was surprised to see that the jacket was not ripped at all!! It was only ripped from my elbow but that was no big deal. So I'm happy with the product and I would definitely recommend it
I love this shoe. I work on my feet all day as well as hike around the trails near my house and this shoe is incredible. I commute by bike in the PNW and my feet have never gotten wet in the rain. Super comfortable. They don't breathe as well as a regular sneaker, but the antimicrobial treatment to the insoles works wonders and they never smell. The reason I', giving four stars instead of 5 is because the laces broke on the first hike. I tied a knot in them and they lasted a little while and broke again. Only on one shoe. They've lasted with two knots in them for a good while now and don't hinder the performance, so I still think they are absolutely great.
The shoe is light but feels rugged. The construction is really good, so I doubt it'll come apart any time soon. (I've worn it for a few weeks now, and so far no sign of wear on it.) It doesn't have the type of cushioning you get from running shoes, but it's not supposed to. It's great for it's primary purpose, which is as a hiking shoe. (Don't use it for sports or training at the gym.) As for fit, the length of the shoe was just right for me. The width is slightly on the wide side, but that's better than being slightly on the narrow side. My feet are not too wide, though, so maybe the width is fine for the average person.
I live in the very rainy PNW, and needed a jacket to battle the wind and rain. This thing is awesome! I tested it out during a downpour for about 20 minutes and I was still dry. Fits a little big, but perfect for wearing over a hoodie, and it looks and feels great.
I am a carpenter and occasional hiker. Got these because they felt real good in the REI store and they looked very cool too ( got the dk green/black), go great with my camo and army green stuff! The more I wear them the more I like them, they fit perfect (I am an 11-1/2 D and that's what I got and they fit! Great support, but feel very light! I reach for them in my closet, amongst many other high end boots, they are currently my favorites. The lacing system is very nice, they cinch up evenly with pretty much one pull, and they loosen up for removal very easily too, this is a feature that you appreciate a few days after you purchase these! Great hiking shoes, I hope they never change them, I'm buying another pair right away!!
I purchased these shoes after having a entry level trail shoe made by Adidas. Loved the previous shoe, it preformed flawlessly. Only drawback to the shoes is they run narrow in the toe box. I bought them for work. I am a garbage man. I have had them all. Danner, Columbia, Timberland, ect. $250 boots that last 6 months and fail at being waterproof almost instantly. This shoe has a toe guard and Gore-Tex. I wore the soles off the previous shoes without my feet ever getting wet. This shoe is pretty stiff, with great support. I love the true orthotic insole, it helps me fight fatigue since I am on my feet for 7 hours.
I just completed my thru hike of the Appalachian Trail. I purchased the Terrex Fast X as a replacement shoe in Daleville, VA and finished my journey with them on Mt Katahdin. Great shoe excellent grip on rocks and dry quickly after becoming wet. I would highly recommend this shoe. I will be wearing them on the PCT next summer. Toasted Toad
Great shoes, the speed lace system is impossible to find in ANY stores if you have to replace it. You have to contact the company that makes the shoes for Adidas. This company is AGRON and the number is 1-800-966-7697. They were very good to work with and sent a replacement lace system out free of charge.
Absolutely the best hiking shoe I ever owned. Came from the Merrel brand, needed something less sneaker like, but not a full blown hiking shoe with all the clunkyness. This thing feels perfect the minute you put in on, no breaking in necessary. Good job Adidas!
