I bought my Sambas about a year ago on clearance as a plan-b. I hated them at first. They felt too long, stiff, and difficult to maneuver in. I bought them to replace my aging vans as my recreational trainer, and things weren't looking good. But once I broke them in, they become an extremely natural and comfortable fit. I really began to wear them all the time! They might fit well with every other outfit I wear, but it wasn't until I wore them out while I ran through the icy streets and parks of Chicago in the early fall did I seriously begin to love my Sambas. When they finally came into their element, what they were originally designed for. Frozen fields. My college Ultimate Frisbee team practices year round, and that does mean we play in the winter, so my Classic Sambas initially replaced my current running shoes simply because they weren't mesh. It soon became evident however, that they outperformed my old running shoe in every way on the field. The gum outsole grip provided me with a confident grip, while still allowing me to maintain an even balance between sliding & stopping, a must for the skilled ultimate player. The "soccer fit" of the shoe provides comfort during long matches, and the leather protects my feet from the elements or other players sharp cleats, while still allowing me with enough flexibility for tricky landings if my feet meet the ground at odd angles. But seriously, my favorite thing about the Adidas Samba, is when you put it all together, no other shoe I've ever worn can out perform it in a dead sprint on cold grass. I'm not kidding. These shoes might be a bit heavy, but when I'm sprinting all out across the field to catch a long pass, dashing over mud and ice, dodging and weaving around defenders, and finally leaping off the Earth to make that all important catch in the end zone, no other shoe provides me with the fit, grip, and most importantly, the speed I need to make moves like that. Where other shoes might catch, slip, drag, or give to a frosty pitch, my Sambas never quit. The Adidas Samba is the best shoe for playing Ultimate on frozen fields. Period.
You can't go wrong with adidas when it comes to football/soccer. The Mundial Team are ideal for turf play (yes... obviously) but also for great for grass-play on firmer pitches. Here in Georgia it doesn't rain as much as it does back in the UK, so I can play in turf shoes on grass, even in the rain, pretty much year round. I broke in the MT's by wearing them around the house on and off for a few days... then to the store etc... just taking it easy... gradually wearing them more & more (ONLY for the break-in period though, now I only use the for training/matches on turf/grass) They were a little snug out of the box - my left foot is 9.5 US and my right is a 9 US - I purchased an 8.5 US. Now, two weeks later... they fit like a glove... That'll be the Kangaroo leather. When I was choosing which shoes to purchase I picked the MT's for these reasons: 1. I trust Adidas when it comes to Football (Period). 2. This shoe has been around 30-years (and wouldn't still be here if it wasn't relevant). 3. Kangaroo leather - it doesn't get softer than this... 4. When you break in these shoes, its like playing in glove like slippers... and I like playing in slippers! 5. Touch & Feel: Slipper like boots = good touch without loss of protection. 6. Protection: I deal with "big-footed / stampy / pushy" defenders for 90 mins, I need to feel protected and lightweight boots just don't cut it. To the critics that say they're too heavy or only good for defenders... The 5 or 6oz difference between these shoes and a super light cleat really is nothing, even if you're a striker or a winger you can wear these shoes. On that note... If you're slow I doubt it's because of the shoes... i.e. wearing the same shoes as Ronaldo or Messi will not make you the next Ronaldo or Messi... (Which makes me wonder what shoes they wore during the formative years of their respective careers - I doubt they were 1oz carbon fiber slippers!). So for the youngsters out there... You'll adapt to the weight difference, and you'll get stronger doing it. And for the older guys like me, it's a no brainer - these are so comfortable it's ridiculous... you'll forget about your shoes and just focus on the game. Hopefully I've convinced you to go ahead and buy these great shoes. If you look after them properly, they'll last for years. On that note: 1. Clean and towel dry after wear (a little warm water should do it). 2. Stuff with newspaper to absorb water. 3. Leave to dry overnight out of direct sunlight and away from heat. 4. Invest in some 'leather food' from England, to treat, nourish and protect the best turf shoes you'll ever own. Hopefully you'll find this review helpful. There are a lot of shoes out there, but not many as good as these.
I have been a loyal Sambas wearer for the last 9 years or so. A single pair of shoes last me a year and a half, and then I keep hold of them so I can have them as work shoes for activities such as mowing the grass or hiking in the mud. These shoes last forever, can slip on and slip off, look great, are very comfortable, and have a pretty good tread. I do a lot of walking and hiking, and I wear my Sambas through it all. I even played Tennis in my Sambas all through high school, and they were fantastic for that as well. I would not recommend running in Sambas, however; purchase actual running shoes for that. But overall, there is truly no better everyday shoe out there.
I have had my first pair of Copas for 5 years, I now have to replace them. I play on hard turf in central Texas. These boots get beat up, I play between 2 - 4 games a week. I have regular boots and sneakers that haven't lasted as long as my Copas. They are light, durable, and feel great. I have tried on other boots from Adidas and other brands but none feel as good as the Copas. Thanks Adidas!
these boots were recommended to me by my personal football coach, following several seasons with uncomfortable boots. however my mum was hesitant to purchase them because of price. but she saved some money in the long run as i have had these for 10 years i am on my way today to purchase my 11 year old brother the same boots as he says they are 'cool' (my mum is pleased about that). Consequently i would recommend these to any young or senior players that would like to be comfortable whilst playing the beautiful game. best wishes with your boots. Jake. 23 London
I bought a pair of these in February, & I've hardly taken them off since. They've become my "thing" among my friends. I purchased the classic white & black, & despite the gold details, they go great with everything. They were extremely comfortable from the first time I put them on. They didn't require any breaking in. The fit was great, other than that I had to lace up the very top hole & I have to retie them throughout the day to keep my heel from slipping out when I walk. This is probably because I wear a women's 8.5/9 & this is a men's shoe, however. They breathe well & my feet don't get too hot wearing them. Really comfortable to walk around in all day. I'm looking forward to buying more in the future!
I have recently bought the Copa Mundial football boots and I had chances to play matches with them. They are simply amazing and very comfortable! It seems that they can fit everybody and their unique vintage look is outstanding! If I need to buy a new pair of football boots I will certainly go for them again, without any hesitation! Thank you Adidas for selling those amazing and unique boots!
i LOVE these shoes, have had 2 pairs of them in the past 3 years and i wear them all the time. I have really bad arches and theyre a little too flat for me, but i throw in arch supports and everyone thinks theyre awesome, and theyre so much fun to play soccer in. only 2 cons are my socks always slip under my feet and if you wear them a lot, the backs wear out quickly and the plastic part that holds the shape rubs the back of your foot if you dont replace them quick enough. but i can wear these for a good year without having to replace them and i wear them all the time!
These Sambas have seen me through adventures from the Appalachian mountains to the far side of the world. They have hiked passes on the Rwenzoris and walked the cobblestones of Sevilla. When the shoelaces literally disintegrated to dust in the heat of South Sudan, I replaced them with construction line, then later with tough outdoor lashing cord. They took a beating in Bangladesh and have walked the streets of Kolkata for a year. Now the journey of these fine shoes is finished. RIP Sambas. #AdventureShoe — in Calcutta, India.
I've been wearing Samba's for over 20 years... I buy a new pair about every 15 months cause I scuff them up and cant wear them to fancy places anymore... but never because they are worn out... I dont think they CAN wear out... the sole NEVER peels... the interior resists wear from my hyperactive toes... they never peel... come unstitched... (wish I could say the same for my Doc's) They ARE perfection. In this day and age when EVERYTHING is cheaper and crappier and lasts less and less... These shoes remain at the top of their game... I will NEVER wear another sneaker...
I'm usually a UK 9 but ordered a UK 9.5 for these and they're perfect! So maybe try go up 1/2 a size or a full size up. Other than that shoes are amazing. Material is perfect. Very Comfortable shoes. Delivery was very fast for standard delivery. Find it much easier and cheaper to order from here then go to a local shop even though it would be faster.
There is a reason why these cleats have been around for so long. It's because of their comfort, strength, durability, etc. One piece of advice, try the cleats on a the store before you purchase them because the leather on each pair may be a little different and if you have purchased a pair in the past, you probably have realized that the cleat stretches after multiple uses. I've had one pair of these cleats for over a year and I play hard each week and they are still in great shape. These are leather, so you may have to use a shoe freshener every once in a while. Overall, these are an incredible purchase for everyone.
Excellent firm ground shoe with great feel. Works great on grass or on turf. Broke in easy after one day of playing (90 minutes). Very comfortable shoe... with other cleats I have had to add inserts for comfort, not with the Copa's. Buy one size down. I wear a size 10 for most Adidas shoes, but for the Copa Mundial I got a size 9 and still have a finger width of room in the toe. Also, this cleat is wider than most other Adidas cleats (which I think are usually too narrow), so I would call these normal width compared to other brand cleats.
These updated Sambas look and feel great. My old Sambas were a little narrow and the arch support did not fit quite right. The new Sambas I purchased online a couple of months ago fit perfectly. The Adi logo on the back of the heel and on the top on the tongue add a dash of style to an otherwise plain shoe. They are comfortable enough to wear everyday, but are durable enough to be worn for indoor soccer as well. I highly recommend the Sambas and would purchase them again.
Excellent shoes for those who need versatility from their shoes. I love the treads on the sambas. They provide excellent grip when outdoors, but are also flat, which suits my needs for the style of kung fu that I practice. The black colour matches with everything, and the rubber sole is dark, blending in easily. They look good with shorts & no socks in the summer. And they're good for winter, which important because I live in Canada. I hate boots because they're heavy and bulky. Plus, my other shoes get destroyed by the constant exposure to salt. These shoes have that half inch of rubber along the sole which makes a big difference. The insoles have a bump to provide some arch support, but I find them awkwardly placed. I may cut them out to create a more flat insole.
