It has been a couple of weeks now and I am enjoying these shoes. I feel much more stable while doing squats, dead lifts, etc. I would definitely recommend these shoes for someone looking to upgrade from regular trainers
A great value for the price and they do the job as described. If you are looking for an affordable squatting shoe, this would be it. My shoe size is a 9.5 US and the 9.5 in these had the correct length but it was a bit loose on the width. If I were to choose again, size 9 would be ideal in these. In the mean time, I will be tightening the laces and I won't be jumping in them. I also have the adiPowers and I prefer these but purely for aesthetic reasons. With the adiPowers, the 9.5 fit perfectly for me.
I bought these shoes for leg workouts and they did not disappoint. Well made and a great fit. They help provide a stable base for squats and other leg exercises. Try them for yourself and you will not regret your purchase.
I have been looking at buying a pair of lifting shoes for quite awhile. These were on sale so I pulled the trigger. After lifting in Five Fingers, these will take getting use to because of the slight heel lift. Have put them through a few workouts and can say I should have purchased these sooner. Made a big difference in the feel on squats and deadlifts. Sizing was just a little big, but a better sock will help that. Overall very satisfied
So pleased with how fast I received these trainers. They are perfect for the lifting element in the crossfit classes that I take. Light on your feet yet supportive in the right places. I will be definatly be recommending them to my clients.
I've been back and forth on getting WL/PL shoes for a couple years and never pulled the trigger because of cost. I found these for about 50% off and scooped them up immediately. They feel great, are solid, and I haven't noticed any shin-angle changes in my squat, dead, snatch, etc. from my previous lifting shoes. Get 'em if you're looking for a great shoe solely for lifting.
Bought these shoes at my normal size of 8uk and when I put them on I could not wear them for more than 10 minutes at a time, they were squashing my toes and way too narrow, sent them back free of charge and ordered an 8 1/2 and they fit perfectly, good sturdy shoes, they should greatly improve my squat stubility.
I've had these shoes for two weeks and have used them 5 times since I'm on a three day split. First off, the fitting(everyone's concern). There are so many people stating "too tight" or "small", and I almost thought the same when I received them. Most shoes you slip on and go, but with these you have to cup your ankle, make sure your heel is completely back in the shoe then tie and strap. I wear a 10.5 in all shoes, with exception to running shoes, usually an 11. That said these are not running shoes, so I ordered 10.5 and perfect! My main issue was footing with shoes and slipping to front during hack squats and leg press. Foot moves in shoe on rep 5 or 6 and have to reset to finish set. Kills the momentum and vibe of the set. With these bad boys, no more! So that knocks out fitting and reason I wanted them. For the price these are a must anyone serious about their leg days. Secondly and overall, placement, depth, comfort, and peace of mind knowing these are going to be with you until you either upgrade to Adipower's, stop going to the gym, or some random disaster. Great buy, don't doubt size, and most of all TRAIN HARD!! And like CJ would say, "BUY 30!"
I am usually a 9.5 UK so I ordered 10.5 and they were a perfect fit. Very pleased - super comfortable but solid. Wish I had got these earlier rather than using regular training for weight training..... Recommended
I squat medium width, and low-bar and these helped me sink my depth better than the running shoes I was wearing before. The heel is the perfect height. They also help with stability a lot, especially if you walk out the weight rather than use a monolift.
Went up on my olympic lifts immediately. Not like 100 lbs or something crazy, but I had a lot more security down in the bottom when I caught snatches overhead. My squats are better too. Can't speak to deadlifts, but if you want more security in squats and snatches, get some lifting shoes. I bought these for the price, but I'm happy with the quality. Adidas has some goofy looking shoes with fire and wings, and I don't know what's up with that, but they've been in the business of providing quality gear to serious athletes for a long long time, and these shoes are great.
After suffering from a bad ankle sprain at the beginning of the year, I have been dealing with ankle flexibility issues. This negatively impacted my form and balance while squatting and I was compensating with plates under my heels. These shoes provide a similar benefit while providing additional stability. Quite happy with them. Docked a star due to uniformity. The sole of my right shoe is positioned further toward the toe than the sole of my left shoe. It doesn't seem to affect stability in squat but there is a noticeable difference. And note for other females - drop a size from your normal tennis shoe and these will fit just right.
Having purchased these for my son, they arrived just in time for his second competition where he managed to achieve a PB in "clean & jerk". He's convinced that the new specialist footwear played a part in lifting that day, all I know is he had a smile on his face and quality shoes on his feet. There were a mix of men and ladies at the competition and at least 95% of them were wearing Powerlift 2 shoes so they must be worth it. Well done Adidas.
I measured my foot according to the size guide. I stepped on a piece of paper and measured the foot. My foot is 27.2 cm with socks on. I ordered size 44 2/3 (27.6 cm) and fits prefect to me. Almost to small on my toes, but still perfect to me. The shoe is good and stable to use and there is a big difference compared with ordinary gymnasitk shoes. Good quality and I like theam :)
Firstly this review is being without actually using the shoes to squat or dead lift etc it's just that trying them on I felt the need to write one...so to the point. These shoes are insanely narrow and shallow!!! I know Adidas run narrow in 90% of their trainers but this is ridiculous. I bought my size and the length is perfect but they CRUSH my toes flat because they're so shallow at the front and very narrow on the front half of the foot. I've noticed some reviewers mentioning to go half a size or a full size up, which I will try but I cannot see that making a difference considering just how narrow and shallow they are. Also, very slow delivery for a company of this size.
The shoes feel and look great, they're of very high quality and should last for years. As someone who struggles with mobility/ being able to hit depth consistently while squatting these have helped for sure, my form improved and I felt stable throughout all lifts. Like a lot of other reviews the issue with size arose for me, I'm usually a size 10 but I ordered a size 10 1/2 with these, they were still a little too tight on one of my feet, I'd recommend either going up 1 whole size or chancing the 1/2 size up like I did. I would consider picking up the power perfect 2 over these if you're struggling with mobility but for the price you really can't go wrong on these and adidas have a great return policy that's very easy to go through. I've uploaded a few pics of these in another colour from adidas speciality + one picture with my thumb by the elevated heel to give you some size reference in regards to how much of an elevated heel these have.
I used to wear any old regular pair of sneakers to the gym like most people. I don't have bad balance, but since using the Powerlift 2.0 I've noticed greater stability, not only in squatting, but everyday lifting at the gym. It has improved my stance, posture, as well as reduced jerking. Not only are they good looking sneakers, but they have helped me lift more as a result of the previously mentioned. For those who expect them to help with walking/running, these sneakers are not for that. Please bring an extra pair of sneakers and only wear these at the gym. As great as they look don't ruin your lifting sneakers by trying to walk/run or wear them on a regular day. Put them on in the locker room before lifting and take them off before leaving the gym. Thanks for another great shoe Adidas!
Was looking for some weightlifting shoes to help with my squats. Instantly noticed a huge difference with squatting depth and stability. Would strongly recommend. Don't be put off by the price - these shoes will last years and are a great investment. Only thing I would say is the white colouring can get a bit dirty.
I really wanted some quality lifting shoes, with the right price since i'm still a college student. I love the finish, get complements on this shoe for the looks, and recommend these to anyone starting off lifting. So far I have nothing bad to say about these.
Got into a program centered around strength building and is focused on compound lifts-- deads, squats, overheads, etc. Started out with Chucks, but I'm tall with long femurs and as the weight increased I found it harder and harder to drop to parallel with the squats and stay upright. Got these and the problems I was having maintaining proper form disappeared with the first lift. No "good morning", no knee shear. Plant your feet and you're solid. Bought them according to my dress shoe size and they felt a bit snug, especially in the toe box. After about two weeks they fit perfectly. The are definitely NOT a cross training shoe, and if that's in your program, I'd keep a pair of running shoes or trainers on hand. But for lifts, I wouldn't wear anything else, especially for the cost.
I got these as my first ever lifting shoe and I have plantar fasciitis so a lot of shoes hurt me feet but amazingly these do not even with the fact that they are hard and made to not flex they give me amazing stability with no foot pain. They look great and you instantly can tell the difference in how you lift maybe it's in my mind but I feel like it's in my feet haha the shoes are great!!!
i am a 9.5. ordered 9.5 -> fits perfect. I am no expert, but this shoe gives nice stability for squats, deadlifts, rows and military press. heel is solid - no force is lost when lifting. secure fit w/ velcro strap. 170 lbs. 50+, squat / deadlift 3x / week. I am 50+ and the slight heel is better for me (in squats and military press) than a perfectly flat shoe. at my age maybe the shoe is not absolutely necessary - but if you have the cash and still lift, i strongly suggest splurging. who knows, maybe it will keep you in form for a few more years. good luck
This is the first pair of weightlifting shoes I've ever used and they are great! I use these shoes for the the Olympic lifts, their variations, and squatting. The size (9.5) is true to what I wear for other athletic shoes. The toe box is a little smaller than I anticipated, but it isn't uncomfortable. I am used to minimalist running shoes that allow you to splay your toes, so that's probably why I noticed the difference.
Bought these simply as a squat shoe. Works a treat. I got a half size bigger and im glad I did. I have fat powerlifter feet which might be the reason for that. Shoes are very stable and grip the floor well
The shoe fits true to size, and is consistent with all adidas shoes. Product looks exactly like the image. Fits very snug, but perfect space in the shoe as well. You will notice an instant difference in the squat with the elevated heel. I was very hesitant about sizing, but it fitted perfect. If you are unsure about sizing, they fit exactly how their runners fit.
