A wonderful pair of basketball shoes! Very light and looking great, they are a bit narrow though even for my slim feet. D-Rose is one of my favourite players, hope he will be back on the court soon and stay fit for the rest of his career!
Great shoe! Bought it off Eastbay for the discount Price of $90. I did say the Fit was just right but there was some space above the toe box which was a Little uncomfortable. Loved the boost. I got these with the Black upper with speckled red Fitcage and the Opaque Camouflage outsole.
I bought this shoe on sale at a Foot Locker For $63. I really wanted this shoe for awhile and when i got them they were so comfy. On court they were explosive and the traction was great. These D Rose shoes are also great for casual wear. All my friends and family keep telling me how fresh I look. Adidas has made an exceptional shoe. Best To Date.
I've been waiting to buy these for over a year. I finally was able to get a hold of them by ordering online because they are not offered in stores where I live. Now I'm a bit disappointed. I own 4 pairs of Adidas shoes, 3 out of of 4 are size 8.5 and fit perfect. I bought the D-Rose in 8.5 my usual size and it seems a half size large. The boost feels great on the back of the shoe but not nearly as nice as the way it feels with the Pure Boost, (foam on the whole length of the shoe.) But I understand the need for rigidity for a basketball shoe vs running. You want to be able to make quick turns/ stops with out the feeling of a wobbly marshmallow under your feet. And this is why I really wanted to see how the D-Rose 5 was executed with boost. Boost has so much potential in a basketball shoe if you can get that balance of strength and energy return. Anyway...on the bottom of the inside of my heel feels awkwardly raised and irritated. The toes have a doming look/feel that I would prefer to see a sleek and subtle form from the rubber up (could be caused by 1/2 size issue). Over all these feel like premium basketball shoes but not as elite as I was hoping for, the boost is real and worth the shot. I'm hoping the 6 fixes some of the comfort issues and uses the boost to take it to the very elite level I was seeking. (boost is real I highly recommend getting the D-Rose 5... but try them on in a store first.)
Just finished up most of a season in this shoe, playing and trianing 2-3 times a week. Thought I'd wait until I'd logged some proper court time in them before I left a review. PROS: Durability - After almost a full season, aside from a couple of scuff marks, they feel and look like they did when I bought them and they've not lost any grip, so durability is good. Boost - The full length boost really does feel good, particularly on firmer surfaces. I felt bouncier and more athletic in them, and also felt cushoined and protected when making hard cuts, landing etc. CONS: Fit - although they fit true to size (at least in my case), it's the actual shape that bothers me. They feel stiff and unnatural when you put them on at the beginning of a session, and although they loosen up after a few minutes of playing/warm up, there's no correcting for the unusual shape. At least for me, it felt like the shoes were dictating the way my feet tracked. This left my feet sore and stiff after a long session, and may have contributed to my shin splints which occasionally cause me problems. Also, the toe box is disproportionately large, so even if you pick the right size, you'll have to tighten the front up too much, and still you'll be left with an awkward space above your toes. Weight/bulk - They aren't the lightest shoes in the world, and they feel quite bulky when playing in them. This isn't a massive complaint, as they have good support, and I've definitely played in heavier shoes, but it's definitely noticeable. SUMMARY: These are a decent pair of shoes, and if they happen to fit you're feet nicely then they'll be a good shoe to buy. However, it is most likely that thye will not fit nicely, so I strongly recommend trying them on if possible before purchasing (not an option for me as I'm a size 13/14 so struggle to find shoes anywhere but online). They are just too expensive right now to risk it, so I will not be buying another pair of these for next season, and will be returning to a different brand of shoe with which I have always had success.
I bought these because I needed some shoes to play ball in and I like drose. Now going into it I never ever believed any of that "oh it makes you jump higher" hype but honestly, I can get rim easier with these shoes on. I'm 5'8 btw, and I can get rim easy with these on and they are comfortable, my feet don't hurt afterward and its got good ankle support too. Great buy actually not just good. K
After only playing for a couple minutes, fitframe digs into my bigtoe. y have fitframe extend all the way when it only has to go to the midfoot? this hurts my bigtoe. otherwiswe everything else is great. Adidas, please cut fitframe on your basketball shoes to midfoot! i have also experienced this with the jwalls, but worse. it is unnecessary for the fitframe to extend the length of the shoe and it distracts me from playing.
This shoe is definitely the most comfortable shoe I have in my shoe collection. In my collection, I have the Kobe Venomenon, the KD 6, KD 7, the Lebron 12, and the Kobe 9. I have never purchased a Adidas model basketball shoe, because of the reviews of the past Rose collection. This shoe is a must get, its more comfortable than any other Nike shoe I have hooped in. The boost is just 1/3 of the shoe, you will feel completely locked in with the ankle support and the traction is pretty amazing. I would definitely recommend this shoe over a lot of other shoes.
The design is great. The material in the shoe is just outstanding with the boost technology. The fit is a bit big so i suggest getting it a 1/2 size smaller than you usually would. Overall, this is an amazing purchase.
Not bad, for a basketball shoe. Feels a little like the 4s..... Could definitely be better. I would recommend lacing the shoes all the way up and walking/jumping around in them in the crib for a little bit before going to the courts. Fits true to size.
This is by far adidas most comfy basketball shoe to date in my opinion, The Boost in the heel area is excellent and while the forefoot boost isn't as plush as I'd like its is still comfy and offers excellent court feel. Depending on the D Rose 5 model you choose, the different uppers do offer different performance qualities, this pair for example is narrower than some other pairs, but it aids great lock down and fit. Traction while looking unconventional is also good and has worked well on different court conditions. I think this shoe is excellent and I'm excited for the D Rose 6!
Bought the red colour way as soon as they were available on Adidas.com and have to say they are supremely comfortable. They boost foam gives you great cushioning, while retaining court feel and the fact that the bottom of the shoe is decoupled helps to make heel to to transitions smooth.
I recently purchased the d rose 5's in the red and blue and so far they are amazing. At first i was a little skeptical about the size because I am a 9 but they fit like 9.5's but not to worry after you play and break them in, they fit perfectly. Another note is that they are extremely comfortable with the white cushion on the heel and they are very very breathable. The traction is also amazing and my only concern is that they scuff pretty easily but then again i am a point gaurd -13 years old 8th grade, playing and wearing them everyday to practice/school/games etc. Overall they are a amazing shoe and are the best d rose yet.
I do shoe reviews part time. I also sell shoes with Finishline. Simply put, the Rose line in general has been putting out extremely great quality shoes from the Rose 3 (which we will be seeing in 10 years as Retro's) with that rich leather and synthetic blend, colorwaves galore. To the Rose 4.0's performance beast, introduced multi direction traction to Adidas Rose line, and Damian made them look good. The Rose 5, yes this shoe, thank you Adidas for the beautiful different materials, upper colors, blends, and styles. This shoe is my top #1 shoe of the 2014 calendar year. Allow me to say if you go with the Red/ Brenda/ L Train colorway, the first to come out- you would be hurting yourself. This material for creases consistently. The shoe has parts that pinch. The Alternate Home, Away, are really picture perfect & it's that colorway I can not find any flaws in, they perform as well as the Jordan XX8 for half the price (not to mention Adidas deals) well done & you will notice Rose himself plays in these two shoes more than any other color, there is a reason, it's the durable yet responsive upper material. It's a strong yet pliable breathable mesh. All of the colors feature the beautiful torsion system traction and many sneakerheads expected slipping, this is a tough, durable, 100% amazing traction. The adidas Speedwrap goes Flawlesssly with the shoe & with any ancle problems, here is a none bulky, yet padded, caged shoe. Much like the Rose 3, I believe the Rose line has another shoe we will be seeing as a Retro re release. The threaded leather of the Dark Blue and Grey is also fantastic and a different style, with Mesh taking over the hoop world. Look people still love leather, synthetics and blends- so to see a woven leather upper on a signature shoe & to see so many options- I love Adidas for this. The shoe is similar to the Crazy 8 with the foam caging, with a similiar Torsion system, you still get great court feel, almost a throwback feel/ look but highly modern. D Rose should be safe with his ankles and well padded. We look forward to the advancements in boost that are rumoring, as well the rumoring of adding boost to throwback T-Mac's ect. Dame's ! please release them soon & lets see some 5.5!
These shoes felt just as comfortable as my D Rose 4s, and the sizing was spot on the same. These shoes, however, have changed my perception on basketball shoes. I do truly believe with the right shoes you can perform better now. With the D Rose 4s, I was about 2 inches from touching rim. I got my D Rose 5s for Christmas this year and was able to now touch rim, even almost getting my first knuckle over it. Never before have I worn shoes that actually attribute to performance, but these shoes go above and beyond by giving you stability, comfort, and the added benefit of a higher vertical leap.
Best d roses/ basketball shoe I have ever played in. Very light weight. I am able to cut a lot more quicker. Traction is amazing. I wear the Adidas ankle braces, like derrick rose wears in game for my bad ankles. The shoe is so amazing, totally worth it
I have heard lots of good things about these shoes. When playing in these shoes, it felt like a had bricks on my feet. The support and grip was good, but if you're looking for a light shoe, get a different shoe.
Very good shoe. Much more comfortable than my old Nike's. They would make my feet hurt after a while, which affected my game. To all the non-beleivers out there, Boost actually works. It amazing. Would definitely buy the 6 when it comes out.
MiAdidas rose5. Excellent shoes to play basketball in. Comfortable shoes ever. Performs great on the court. Traction is awesome. nothin bad to say about the shoes. ADvice tho if your feet are wide, you might want up to .5 your reg shoe size. BOOST tech "IS FOR REAL... CHANGES EVERYTHING" TRACTION COMFORT PERFORMANCE 110%
After playing in Crazylights, and loving them, for the last couple seasons I wasn't sure if I really wanted to switch shoes. I decided to try out the 5s and I am very impressed! At first I thought the boost was not going to make a difference in energy and play, but it changes everything. I feel very secure in the shoe and never slip. The traction is amazing. My only problem is the ankle supports. They sometimes dig into my ankle when driving and can cause pain. Other than that I am very happy with this shoe.
Ever since I tried on the boost energy running shoes, I couldn't wait until Adidas put them into the DRose line of shoes. I have been buying the Rose line since inception and have always loved how the hugged the foot and had exceptional traction but always needed a little more cushioning since I'm a bigger guard (and getting older). Simply put, the Rose 5 Boost is everything I ever wanted in a shoe. Please note that the sizing is different that previous Rose shoes bc the toe box is rounded off more than previous models. The Rose 1-4 all had a more pointy toe box so depending on your foot shape, youd have almost no wiggle room in the toe box. If you sized down half a size it would be too small . W the rose 5 you can size down half a size and still be able to move youer toes around a little. I went with my normal sz 11 and found the length to be perfect with some space to move my toes around. When I went down to a 10.5 I had less space in the toes overall and still some space to spare length wise. I highly recommend trying your normal size and half a size down so you can decide based on your preference. Cushioning is outstanding with full length boost. Somehow Adidas was able to keep that plush bouncy feel wout making the shoe feel unstable. Excellent responsiveness as well as a super smooth transition from heel to toe thanks to full length boost (not targeted like some companies ) Support: The round pads that protrude up the ankle are pretty stiff initially but as you play the warm up and flex just the right amount. The most impressive yet unspoken support structure runs along the sides of the shoe above the midsole. It really keeps my foot from sliding which really need when I cut hard. Traction: This wouldn't be a drose shoe without excellent traction and these do not disappoint. The rubber used is nice and soft and the grab the floor even on slightly dusty floors. Exactly what Id expect from a Drose shoe. I love this shoe and can't wait for more colorways to drop.!!
I've been purchasing new color ways of the stylish Rose logo tee since it's first release, and each version seems to have improved comfort and wear. Along with the bold colors, I really like the slim cut of this new line of tees. The Rose brand arm tag is pretty official and a nice addition to the shirt. And of course the large Rose logo on the front is as fresh as a signature logo comes. I'll be checking for even more colors.
