Fabio Palma Interview

  • Fabio Palma 1

What’s your favourite spot/location to be active?

How do you prepare for a project/contest?
I climb 3 times a week always trying to push the level. I also use fast up products (for integration).

What are your biggest accomplishments?
All three routes of Wendenstocke, “PORTAMI VIA”, “COELOPHYSIS”, “INFINITE JEST” (thanks Matteo). And the route “GENIUS”, Sardinia (Thanks Domenico). But I also have very good memories of some of my repetitions such as ‘’FRAM IN MARMOLADA’’ and “LES YEUX DANS BLEU”, Paroi d’Anterne. Both these climbs were with Matteo and we climbed perfectly together.

What are your next goals related to your sport?
I would like to try to open another route at the same level as my biggest route so far: Wild, long, hard and free.

Who do you look up to, who motivates you?
Fritz Wiessner, Alex Huber, Nico Favresse and Sean Villanueva, Manolo, Leo Houlding, my climbing partner Matteo Della Bordella, Beat Kammerlander, T. Caldwell, Dean Potter.

Who is your favourite guy to hang out with/be active with?
Matteo Della Bordella, for his talent and motivation. We are very similar, even if I am becoming slightly less furious with my climbs. But we can still be a great team, like last September during the red point of “INFINITE JEST”. Paolo Spreafico because he is so quiet and at the same time he has a very focused approach. And Domenico Soldarini because he is able to make any climbing day a really fun day with his great sense of humour.

What’s your ‘2nd‘sport?
I like basket, swimming, and Athletics. All those guys are amazing for the way they push their training, their power and their mental attitude.

What’s your favourite thing to do on a day off?
I like climbing, writing and reading.

What’s your favourite adidas product and why?
The TERREX collection is really good. It is hard choosing just one product.

What’s your favourite food?
Sicilian food is the best food in the world. However all the food that my friend Matteo Della Bordella likes, I know I will dislike ;-).
